The weather is fair, fine and fa
vorable to the cotton interest, and
our farmers are taking advantage
of it by active operations. The
fibre is fine, but there is a defi
ciency in the number of bolls on
the plant. The corn crop, per
haps, is as good as our land will
bring. j
The health of the people is un
usually good so far.
Mr. Bob Green and Miss Nannie
Cannamore were married yester
day morning 22 inst. Or at least
we feel safe in the announcement,
as they were seen traveling at a
rapid rate, in the direction of Par ‘\
son Phillips’ with the necessary
credentials, :
The question of “no fence'’ is
agitating the minds of some of
our people, and an election will be
held at an early day, to decide the
question. Onr land is too poor for
stock law. We have too much
wild land yet for stock to roam on.
We have plenty of goodtimber for
good fencing and let us have it.
If the landlord can’t fence, lét him
dispose of some of his land to a
good tenant who can fence it.—
“Equal rights and equal privileges
to all.”’ No fence means no hogs;
1o fence means few cattle, sheep
or gouts. Let us have fences, and
}luwful ones. 1t would be but jus
tice to the renter, if we dispense
lwith the fence, to pay one-third,
at least, rent from fence rates.
Pax.
3 Their Business Booming.
" Probably mno one thing has
cansed snch a general revival of
trade at Neill & Co’s Drug Store
as their giving away to their cus
tomers of so many free trial bot
tles of Dr. King’s New Discovery
for Consumption. Their trade is
simply enormous in this very val
uable article from the fact that it
always cures and never disap
points. Counghs, Colds, Asthma,
Bronchitis, Croup, and all throat
and lung diseases quickly cured.
You can test it before buying by
getting a trial bottle free, large
size 1. Every bottle warranted.
