{FROM TALLAPOOSA.
Eprror Banner: I have been
right Jlazy last week, therefore
failed to get up the items from
our town. When I tell you- how
busy I have been, you will no
doubt pardon me for my negli
gence. I had to mave my store on
the other side of the street, and
nearly everybody else has moved
too. We rented a brick store
room on Alabama street, next door
to the post-office, and then rerent
ed a part of it to J. R. Morris &
Co. Besides, Dr. J. M. Harrison
has a room with us, We thought
perhaps we might get sick this
rainy weather, and wanted a good
physician handy.
C. Munroe has moved his store
into one room of the Damon block
on Head avenue. A.N. & R. J.
Mcßride have also moved in one
room of same block. So you see
' that moving and changing around
is the order of the day in Talla
!poosa.
~ Trade is increasing this week.
Several bales of cotton have been
sold at this place up to date. |
We have been informed that
Munroe & Mcßride contemplate
building a brick block on corner
of Head avenue and Atl]anta%
street at an early day.
The rain is coming down terri
bly at this writing. Sorry to see
it too.
The doctor has just come in and
reports all his patients doing well.
Says the town never was in better
health than at present, has a few
cases of bilious fever in the coun

There was a horse took fright at
a passing train this morning, run
away and tore up a buggy belong
ing to Mr. Orr, of Heard county.
Mrs. McLemore, of Knoxville,
Tenn., has retured home from a
very pleasant visit to her dangh
ters, Mrs. Dr. Robertson and Mrs.
Luther Groce, of this place.
We understand that there are to
be some weddings in town soon.
We believe the prospect is good.
One fellow has come in since we
have been writing, and we took
him to be a candidate for matri
mony. We simply asked him
when it was going to be. Well,
he just blushed and said he hoped
it wouldn’t be long, and went
right out.
My, Gaines Thompson, of Gads
den, Ala., spent a few days with
us last week. We feel it quite a
treat to have our parents call on us.
Mr. Lee Pounds and family have
moved to our town, into the build
ing recently vacated by Mrs.
Stone.
The Baptist church belonging to
the colored people of this place,
was burned last Wednesday night.
We have been informed that
there will be quite a number of
northern people to return to the
Tallapoosa hotel this week.
We will close for this writing,
with best wishes for the BANNER
and its readers. MARGRIE,
A Sorap of Paper Saves Her Life,
It was just an ordinary scrap of
wrapping paper, but it saved her
life. She was in the last stages
of consumption, told by physicians
that she was incurable and could
live only a short time; she
weighed less than seventy pounds.
On a piece of wrapping paper she
read of Dr. King’s New Discovery,
and got a sample bottle; it helped
her, she bought a large bottle, it
helped her more, bought another
and grew better fast, continued
its use and is now strong, healthy,
rosy, plump, weighing 140 pounds.

to W. H. Cole, Druggist, Fort

they trotted us out, and we brought

ATTENTION! FARMERS!!
WANTED—IO,OOO BALES OF COTTON!
We, the undersigned, Mer
chants of Tallapoosa, beg leave to
call the attention of the Farmers
of Haralson, Polk, Carroll and
Cleburn Counties, to the fact that
Tallapoosa has been favored by a
Through Freight Rate, and will
make her shipments direct to ex
porting points on through bills of
lading, which will make her facil
itiies for bandling the present cot
ton crop second to no other market
in North or Western Georgia or
North Alabama.
We will guarantee to give for
every bale of cotton brought to
this market the same prices as
quoted by Atlanta, Rome or An
niston.
~ With this advantage, Tallapoo
sa is determined to have her share
of the present crop, if the highest
market prices, honest grading,
and fair weights, are any induce
ments.
While we are aware of the fact
that Tallapoosa has not been what
it should have been as a cotton
market, by cause of a discriminat
ing freight rate against her to the
advantage of some of her more
fortunate sister towns, now, as
this obstacle has at last been re
moved and that we have the same
advantages of the larger cities as
a cotton market, we expect to give
this benefit to every farmer who
may bring his ecotton to this mar
ket. Only sealed weights will be
used, and weighing done by a
sworn weigher, and no charges
will be made for weighing, stor
age or insurance. [Signed]

" Many so-called ¢Bitters’’ are
not medicines, but simply liquors
so disguised as to evade the law
in prohibition sections. This Is
not the case with the celebrated
Prickly Ash Bitters. It is purely
a medicine, acting on the liver and
blood, and by reason of its cathar
tic effects cannot be used as a bev
erage. It shonld be in every
household.
