‘ A GREAT FUTURE.
No one can survey the field of
southern enterprise without realiz
ing that a great industrial revolu
tion is in progress in this section,
and has been for some years. The
evidences of this revolution are
seen not simply here and there,
but eveywhere in the south. Old
towns are waking to life, new
towns are springing into exist
ence, old enterprises are enlarg-]}
ing their plants and extending
their business, and new enter-}
prises, covering almost the entire
range of human industry, are be
ing added to the wealth-creating
power of the south.
The rapidity with which the
south has advanced industrially
since the war has challenged the
ever increasing admiration and
wonder of people who have given
attention to the subject, and this
advancement has escaped the at
tention of but comparatively few
who are seeking good investments.
Capitalists in countries other than
the United States have been at
tracted by it, and capital has been
brought to the south from the:
north and from Europe. It is
creditable to the south, however,
that'the greater part of the capital
for her development has been con
tributed by her own people, not
withstanding they came out of
the war financially wrecked.
~ The south’s progress this year
‘has not abated. On the contrary,
it has gathered increased force,
and. the reports published in our
telegraphic columns the other day
furnished a most gratifying ex
hibit. Industries to the number
of 4,053 were established from
Jan. 1 to Oct. 1, 1889, against 2,-.
052 for the corresponding monthsi
of 1888, and it was stated that
the last thirty days witnessed the
formation of the strongest devel
opment companies yet organized
in this section. The south will be
in time the most prosperous part
of the country.—Savannah News.
