Base Ball—Foot Raoces.
. Last Saturday evening was a big time
for the boys of Buchanan. The hands
from the lumber mills of Weatherly &
Son came in for a game of ball with the
‘Buchanan players. The game com
meneced about 3 o'clock’and lasteds until
nearsun set. The game stood; Buchan
an 15; saw mill 14, After the base ball
heat had subsided and everything Bad
become perfectly guiet, sonre young fel
low in the mill erowd ‘‘bantered’”’ any
thing in Buchanan for a soot race; no
quicker than he gave the ward one of
our boys fell to the ground and began to
‘shed”” his shoes, and the ecrowd all
gathered in front of Loveless & Son's
store where the race took place. The
mill boy come out winner on the first
run, but one' of Buchanan’s boys stamd
ing back in the crowd told the mill boy
he would like to try him one race, which
was agreed upon at once; so in this run
the mill boy got left. The boys, we
understand, will run again next Satur
day. Wateh out boys youw may get left
next time. We don’t have any idea but
what that fellow takes a fvemile ‘“heat’”
up and down the railroad every day,
getting himself in tune for the next
race.

its use and is now strong, healthy
and rowsy, plump, weighing 140
pounds. For fuller particulars
