A Special from Birmingham says thafi,," telegrams wore receive in that ity stat ing that Rube Barrows. the noted train vobber,was captured in Monroe County, : Ala., last Tuesday afternoon by a farmer named MeDufffie. It seems that Me- Duffie and others had been sent out by the Southern Express Co., MeDuffie eame upon Rube where ha had stoped ip a house out of a rain. The darkies engaged him in conversation, and then grabbed him by the hands pre venting his shooting, He fought the dar kies manfully until MeDuflie and others gotin,and after a desperate straggle they succeeded in conquering and securely tieing the great desperado, McDuflie ¢arried Rube to the jail strap ped hand and foot in front of him on his horse. After Burrows had been locked in jail, M cDuffie and one of the negroes wha helped to capture him, sat down te wateh him throngh the night. About 4 o clock the following worning le awoke and asked for his satchel that he might get some craekers that were in it. The satchel was handed to hiin by Me- Duffie, He took two revolvers from it and ordered the negro to untie him, take off the hand cuffs and put them on Me- Duffie, which the negro did, Burrows ‘then locked McDaffic in the jail and ‘made the negro go witl him to the room 'where Carter, the man who was in pos session of the money found on Rube’s person, was sleeping, and called him ont. When he came out Rube placed a pistol in hig"breast aud demanded the money. Carter refused to give np the money, ' but got his revolver and he and Rabe began shooting at each other, Cartery ' was shot through the left hreast and may, die.
