ONxXBARNER HARALSONx X . OFFICIAL ORGAN OF HARALSON COUNTY. SI.OO PER ANNUM. JAS. R. GRIFFITH, Kditor and Proptictor. Entered at the Post-office at Buchanan Georgia, as second-class mail matter. Gl AR S Buchanan, Georgia, Dec, 12, '9O. President Harrison is a strong supporter of the Force bill. Tom Reed’s ¢lip’’ is said to be considerably shortened. It is hoped that the public school law will be greatly im proved by the present legisla ture. The McKinley tariff bill is the greatest curse that has been forc ed upon the people of America since the revolution. We are in favor of abolishing it, evem if it requires another revolution to ac complish this end. Just as the reading of the Pres ident’s message was finished the Republican Senatore went linto caucus on the Force bill. Do your best boys, You have only got tkree months and then we will see how the matter stands. It has beensaid by a great wany that the present Legis lature only met to adjourn, but if you will just notice them carefully you will see that an adjournment is not all that will be in order, The Indians of the west com plain of great hunger, and attri bute it to the census enumerators. They are becoming violent over the matter and say they’d rather die fighting than of starvation, Can’t this matter be amicably set tled? Since the present Congress met last there has already been u num of bills introduced to change the coinage of silver. Among them is one by Mr. Clements, of this district, for the absolute free coin age of silver. It is believed by gome that Mz. Clements’ bill will pass. Woudn’t the south rejoice? Georgia is making rapid strides in the way of progress and pros perity. According to the recentap portionment bill we’ll be entitled to 11 representatives in the 53rd Congress instead of ten, as we now have. There will either be a new district created or one mem ber will be elected by the state at large. The Homeopathic Medical Association is gdvocating the use of chloroform for putting murderers to death. It claims that the present methods are cruel and inhuman, We agree with them, that there should be some method other than hanging, as it is slow and ag onizing, and it secems that elec tricity is no better, so we think some other plan should be adopted, - : HOMER CHENEY DZAD. Homer Virgil Milton Cheney, youngest son of Dr. and Mrs. . N. Cheney, was born in Carrollton, Ga., September 4th, 1875; died in Bremen, Ga., November, 7th 1890, He was baptised and reccived in to full connection in the M. E. church sonth, September, 6th 1886. Although dying young he gave unmistakable evidence of genuine faith in God. 1t was told us he was dead, but Homer did not die, the tired little frame worn out and weary from the pangs of di sease, lay down in sleep, and the soul, sighing for a better, bright er home, slipped away from death, and the spirit of a good, pure christian boy winged its way be yond the clouds to the city of God, and the body of little Homer, quiet in its icy stillness, heard no more the sound of weeping, mnor felt the rugged hand of disease tear his little frame, the film of death shut out forever the sights of a cruel world, tender hands handled him for the last time, and low in the grave, they put him out of sight, hid him away from the eyes of a father, who thought Homer would be his staff in his declining years, gone fromi a mother, who looked forwrad to the time, when wearied with march of life, she might lean on a strong arm, forever gone from the sisters, who thought that the time would come when a brother’s arm would shield them from danger. Death moved him down, the grave shrouded him in its sombre dark ness, but this is not the last of little Homer, for with a trium pkant death a saving faith, with Lis right hand in the hand of God, he reached down and plucked the sting from death, snatched the victory from the grave, lit hisi torch on the eternal alter of hope and over the dark waters of death made smooth by the torch of an angles feet, Homer went in safety. and greeting the redeemed of God on the shores of eternal de liverance, Homer stands with beckoning hands io papa and ma ma. Surely Dr. Cheney and family have drank deep from the cup of sorrow. May God bless them in their bereavment, and may the link of the chain which connects them with the glory land, draw them all up, one by one, until at last an unbroken family will sit down in heaven, away from sad ness of this earth. Let the thonght that ¢*he is not dead, but sleepth” fill your hearts, innocent and pure; death to Homer was more beautiful than life. . BrotHER WILL. ' Some of the mnegroes have backed out from *going back home” and have décided to stay in America. Mr J H Lee's dwelling on Spring and Bowdon streets is nearing cowmpletion. Lung Troubles, Rheumatism, Etc. Frequently a person is supposed to have consumption when it is some other disease altogether that is reducing his flesh avd making him lock pale and thin. J. W. Yates, Tullahoma, Tenn., writes: ‘‘lt dose.me gooa topraise Botanic Blood Balm. It ‘cured me of an abscess on the lungs and asthma that tronbled me two years and that other remedies fail ed to benefit.’, So you see it is sometimes well to try constitutional treatment. No remedy is so,good as B. B. B (Botanic Blood Balm) for rebuild ing wasted tissue, and giving health to every potion of the sys tem reacLed by that great circu lating stream of life, the human blood. Again, it is often sup-? posed that colds and exposure are the only causes of sciatica, rhen matism, etc. Such is not always the case. It is frequently caused by impurities in the blood. | Wm. Price, Lutsville, Mo., writes: ¢I was afflicted with sci atica and had lost the use ot one arm and one leg for nine years. 1 went to Hot Springs and also tried different doctors, but found no cure until I tried Botanic Blood Balm. It made me sound and well. lam well known in this va cinity.”’ Observe, even when the renown ed Hot Springs faiied, B. B. B. ‘brought relief. Remember, no ‘matter what blood remedy you have tried or intend to try. B. B. B. is the ouly one that will give you complete satisfaction. We learn that the people in the Goldin settlement are making an effort to get a post office establish ed at Mr. W. 8. Weatherington’s stove, They say that they are so far from any office that they only get their mail occosionally ‘and their newspapers are out of date before they get them. We hope they will be successful, as they are sadly in need of a post office. Why not have a mail route from Buchanan to Draketown via Mr. Weathington’s? It seems that it takes the mail about a week, very often, to go from here to Drake town. This being the casge, we favor a new mail route. 7 Messrs. Oglesby & Bro, who have been engaged in saw nilling two miles mnorth of town for the past eighteen months, have about sawed up their timber at that place and will remove their mills to south west Georgia in a few days. They have purchased a large belt of timber in that part of the state and, judging the fu ture by the past, they will make things lively when they get there. They are good ci tizens, and successful L usiness men, hence we are loth to give them up. If Your House Is'on Fire You put water on the burning timbers, not on the smoke. And if you have catarrah you should attack the disease in the blood, not in your nose. Remove the impure cause, and the local effect subsides. To do this, take Hood’s Sarsaparilla, the great blood puri fier, which radically and perma nently cuares -catarrh. Jt also strengthens the nerves. Be sure to get only Heod’s Sarsaparilla. Petty thieving in Georgiais be-‘ coming very common. We can scarcely here of any town, howev er small, that has not been visited by these. unwelcome guests. Dwellings are frequently entered while tamilies are asleep and money and other goods taken. We are not in favor of cruelty or anything like that, but when one‘j is caught at such “‘tricks’’ he should be shot then and there. Merit Wins. We desire to say to our citizens, that for years we have been sel ling Dr. Kings New Life Pilis, Bucklen’s Arnica Salve and Elec tric Bitters, and have mnever han dled remedies that sell as well, or that have given such universal sat isfaction- We do not hesitate to guarantee them every time, and we stand ready to refund the pur chase price, if satisfactiory results do mnot follow their use. These remedies have .won their great popularity purely on their merits. Neill & Co’s., Buchanan, W. H, and G. R. Price’s, Waco, Fortunes For many.
