Another hospital was raided by the Otumba soldiers at Alfaro, near Malena del Sur. Here three young women, members of aris tocratic Cuban families, Ed uvigis Garcia, Sorafina Hernan dez and Paulina Valdes, were victims of the soldiers’ brutality and macheted, their bodies hav ing been reduced to ashes. Four men who left the city of Santa Clara shortly after the publication of General Blanco's edict, releasing the reconcenfra dos were killed on the outskirts of the by city Spanish soldiers, who took the bodies to Santa Clara and said that the men had been killed by the rebels.
