I saw a load of them on the street this morning and was informed that they were fresh from the Flat woods. They sold at 20 cents per quart. May 7. —I see my few items of a week or two ago were printed, sol will write again. We had a very hard rain, mid a little hail here yesterday after noon, the rain’did some damage to small vegetation and washed the land. Miss Troutman | has had two charming guestsjseveraljweeks viz, Misse Julia Hill, and Clara Mul lennix, But oh! sad fact, they have gone home. Miss Camp of Shannon is sorrow ful and can’t be comforted because her assistant in the Post office, has goneto|the penitentiary, JJ reckon Mr. Doyle O’H; n'on was h<r assis tant as he was there a great deal. Mr. Jack Wimpee was in our burg the 4th Sunday, in fact, I think he is here pretty often, but he has a good excuse, his two little girls are here, but I think a1 i <u e is the chief attraction. People are about ready- to go to chopping cotton around here. Miss Olivia Johnson, of Rome, is visiting relatives here.
