Only two conn ties have sent their digests to tin competroler general. The two coun ties heard from are Clipch and For syth, as follows : Last year Clinch’s return was $909,497. This yaar it is $848,177 a falling off of $61,320. Last year Forsyth returned sl,- 354,106; this year the return is $ 1, 239, 800, a slump of $114,275. In a chat with Floyd’s Clevel and hustling young Tax Assessor, I learned from him that there’s go ing to be a slump in this county. Shrinkage in values is the only ause, too. Rain! Why its so wet in the country that a-furmer would es teem a set of dry grins as an oas is in the land of crab grass and wa ter. Seems like the whole bottom has dropped out * » Col Langly, of South Dakota and Mr. Fred H. Sears, of Dayton, Ohio., after a pleasant visist to this section, as 'he guest of Mayor J. I). Moon , left today for the peac.i section of the State. These two gentlemen are surveying out, a teri tory for a colony and pronounce themselves as delighted xvith Floyd. They will return in about 10 days and make further investi gations.
