C October 2. —The adoption of free wool in the United States tariff law has result ed in advantage to the United States manufacturers, according to a report from United States Consul Schramm at Uruguay. He points that the shipment of Uru guay wools to the United States have largely increased by reason of the tariff change, “This is greatly beneficial to the interests of the United States,” he adds, “from the fact that the fine qualities raised here have never before reached the United S ates, As these fine wools cannot be pro duced in the United States, and at, the same time are essential to the manufacture of various arti cle°, it s evident that the cheaper ‘hey can be made to our manufac turers the more they will be ena- >ed to compete for the world’s narkets as well as supply the home market.
