Club held its regMlar meeting Friday night at the home of Miss Lula West, on Second Ave., and all spent the evening most pleasantly. The mem bers of the club a’e all young la dies from the Sub-Junior class at Shorter College and every piece on the programme prepared for their e ntertainment was heartily encored. Miss Haper recited ‘‘The One Leg ged Goose” and “Now Run Away Dear'’ and Miss West “George H. The Stage Hero,” much to the de light of all present. These young ladies are members are in the Elo cution class at Shorter and it’s a genuine pleasure to hear '.them Miss Brown sang “The Sunshine of Paradise Alley” and “Sweet Alice Ben Bolt” and Miss Andei son sang “In The Old Sweet Way.” These were the special features of the evening and the young ladies made closer friends of those pres ent by their winning ways and splendid voices. Miss Seay recited “His Picture is Turned Toward The Wall,” and her rendition on the Saud of Manhattan Beach and Lib erty Bell marches was exquisite and touching. The monthly busi ness of the club was disposed of after the programme and as it ranks among Rome's Secret Orders all but members were ejected from the room. Their novel name “The Pickle Fating Subs” was by a vote of thp club changed to the C. C. C. cud wl.al that stands for their ' cun nvi friends are now guess h.' , they hiving guessed the T. P. E. S. and compelled a change. Ele gant refreshments were daintily ’served by a prominent caterer on neat little souvenirs of the Atlanta Exposition. The next meeting of this highly talented club will be held with Miss Seay, they knowing her charming and graceful man ner of entertaining unanemously accepted her invitation. They dis persed at 10 o’clock this being one of their rules. NO HANGING because There Was no Prisoner Present to be Hanged. Mount Pleasant, Ky., Oct. 21. Budford Overton was to have been banged here Friday for the dou ble murder of Gus Loed, an old peddler and his wife. As it was to be the first legal hanging that ever ook place in Harlan county, the event was anticipated with expec tation by thousands who expected to witness the execution. Orders have come in fast reports of the execution today, but the event was postponed by the escape s6me weeks ago °f Overton and there is still no clue to the whereabouts of the murder er. Broke a Leg Riding the Goat Chicago, October 21.—John Beiger has filed suit for $25,000 damages against the Order of for esters. He alleges that when they initiated him they broke one of his legs. “The hurt I received was through no fault of mine, said Mr. Beiger, “I did everything they told me to do. I swam in a sea of molten lead, rode the goat and jumped onto a thousand bayonets without a murmur. “Then they began to handle me roughly, and finally, when I was bound and blindfolded, I was toss ed in the air and allowed to fall on the floor. Where on the second day of September, 1889, Elizabeth B. Ellison.execut ed and delivered to the Georgia Loan and Trust Company, her deed under Sections 1969, 1970 and 1971 of the Code of Georgia of 1882 to the lands hereinafter described for the purpose of securing a debt re ferred to in sail deed, which deed is recorded in the Clerk's Office of Floyd Superior Courtin Book N. N. of Deeds Page 353 . And whereas the said Georgia Loan and Trust Company did on or directly thereafter transfer and assign to the undersigned for a val uable consideration, the note to secure the payment of which said deed was executed and at the same time transferred all of its rights un der said deed, and on the—day of— executed and delivered to the un dersigned a deed conveying the ti tle to said land into, the unde igned, together wi h all the rights and title of said Georgia Loan and Trust Company under the deed of the said Elizabeth B Ellison, including the power to sell said lands in case of default in the prompt payment at maturity of interest or principal of said notes. GEORGIA: By W Y Atkinson, Governor of said state, Whereas, Official information has been receiv ed at this department that on August 30th, 1895, in the county of Floyd, Harvey Wilson stabbed ' to death his step-father, Thomas Montgomery, and escaped and lias not been apprehended. I have thought proper, therefore, to issue this my Proclamation, hereby offering a reward of One Hundred dollars for the apprehension and delivery of said Harvey wtlson the sheriff of said county and state.
