Services will be held during the week each afternoon at 1 o’clock and in the evenings at 7:30. Hassinger of 3958 Laclede avenue, while visting bis mother, Mrs. Belle Hassinger, at 937 West Ca banne court, yesterday afternoon, took a quantity of strychnine, jpom the effects of which he died at 8 o'clock. He is supposed to have taken th'e poison about 1 o’clock, du.ing the temporary absence of the fam ily . As soon as his condition was known Dr. E. H. Eggers and D.. R. M. Russel were .-ummoned and heroic efforts were mace to -a\e his life. He left a letter which, it is sup posed, gave his reasftir for taking his life, but the family refused to. make known its contents. Prohibition Convention Pittsburg, Pa., AL.rch 28. —At a i meeting of the national executive committee of the prohibition party a committee was appointed to audit the accounts of the treasurer up to the latest possible date be fore the national convention. The report will be published for use in the convention. It was decided to seat delegates alphabetically by states, the details to be referred to the national chairman. A badge consisting of a button with a blue field, in the center of which is a white rose with the word ‘■Prohi bition" at the top in white letters and the motto •‘ln hoc signo viu ces" at the bottom, was adopted as the official emblem of the parly Each delegate will be allowed three general admission tickets to the convention. Death of Mrs. Marvin St. Louise, Mo.’March 28.- Mrs E. Marvin, a sist-r of the late ex-| President Hayes, who died Wednesday at Kirkword, a suburb was buried vest rd>*y from the Kirkwood Methodist church, Ri-v. Dr. Mays presiding. She was a few years tha senior of her dis tinguished brother. They were separated in early youth. Mrs. Marvin was reared and educated by an old SoUtbe n lamily, then residing in S uthern Illinois. He is as accom modating as sturdy and if you use tobacco you should shire your patronage with him. Mulford Pepper is duad! Hots like a knife, that statement cuts his friends to the heart. I have known him for years. I succeeded him as Captain of Hill City Ca dets a few years ago and for the past year have served with him on the Board of Trustees of the Rome Public Schools. His military boys I loved him, and on ths Board with him I learned w hy.they loved him. * * Genial, social, pleasant, ho was the soul of honor and generous to a fault, considerate of the feelings ■of all with whom he came in corv l tact.
