Your correspon dent saw the list and knows it to be bona fide. NEGRO PREACHER SHOT. Austin, Tex., Aug. 6. —I be ne groes of this city were thrown into the greatest excitement Monday by the killing of a negro preacher named J. T.Gibbons by a negro named Percy Cook. Cook says that he caught the preacher and his wife together and tilled him full of bullet holes. The preacher died within a few minutes after being shot ■ REV G. E. SCOTT INSANE. Waterloo, 10.. Aug, 6. —After a three days’ session the Insanity Commissioners have declared the Rev. G E. Scott, who eloped with Daisy Dorian, four weeks ago, in sane Scott is still in jail, pend ing the result of habeas corpus pro ceedings in the case against him for seduction, KILLED ALL HIS FAMILY. Providence, Ky., Aug. 6. —Near Clay, eight miles west of here, r I om Brown, an insane husband terribly butchered his family at midnight. His mether-in law, wife and baby were cut and beaten with an ax and will probably die. Brown went to neighbor’s after the deed and asked to be shot. SMASHED There was an exciting run away on Broad street near the Hustler of Rome I uilding this morning. A team driven by Bud Mooney dashed up the street, turned very suddenly toward the Central Ho tel and in a twinkling crashed in to a roau cart that stood on tilth Ave. Mrs. Mayben of Gadsden was sitting in the cart. The wagon shat'ered the right wheel and she was precipitated under the leet of the frightet ed horses. A crowd collected and she was extricated in a few seconds. She ‘ was badly frightened but unhurt. Mooney was thrown from hie seat and sustained a badly lacer jatedarm. The cart was owned by a Mr. Dudley of Gadsden. Asked for a Kiss. Millville, August 6.—The hos pital authorities summoned the police to-day to take the ante-mor tem statement of Mrs. John Hick ory, who was terribly beaten by her husband, whom she asked foi a kiss on Wednesday night. The funeral takes place from Hie residence of the parents in North Rome this nfternoonat 5 o’clock. Chicken Thieves on. Bicycles. The people of Verona, L. 1., are looking for chicken thieves that ride bicycles. C. M. Bloxbam and Mr. Justn. had their wheels stolen Friday night. The hen house of Mrs. Milton McConnel was rot bed of thirty fowls on the same night. The wheel marks of the stolen bi cycles were plainly visible in the roadway ar her gate. A Mother Steals Her Chl’d. Pittsburg, Pa., August 6.—Mrs. Whitaker, wife of Frank Whit aker, of New York, was arrested here *o-day in comprny with Her man Krieger, on a charge of kid. napping Ida Whitaker, aged 10 years. The child was found in a house on Pepn avenue, where she had been left by Mrs. Whitaker. She says she is undecided wheather to go to her father or remain with her mother.
