The thirtieth annual convention of the North Georgia conference will assemble at Dalton on Wed nesday, the 25th, of N**v«mbei Fully 375 delegates will be in a’- teiidence, about 275 of whom will be prominent members of the church. The sessi' n will continue f<>r about one week, and will be pre sided over bp Bishop A. W. Wil son, of Baltimore. During the weeks services wil be held every morning and night, and many prominent ministers from all ove the sta e will deliver serin.ms t< the members of the conference. In this conference th >se minis ters whose time for conducting the services of certain church* e has expired will be appointed to new charges. According to the rules of th Methodist church, no minister is allowed to have charge of any on* church for more than four years When that limit has been react ed, thsy are given other churcle* which they take charge of during ths uext four years. The same rule appl'es to the bishops. IVbile Bishop Wilson will preside Ov*r this conference next year, he will probablybe succeeded fy sir other bishop of the Meihodisl church. Reese is no I mger in danger of death from the effects of the deputy’s bullet. If the judg' refuses a new trial h-; must, under the law, sentence the men to hard labor in the state penitentiary for life. In event a new trial is obtained the probability is that counsel will secure a ch nge of venue and af ter public sentiment settles down n - prisoners will be anquitted. In any event the outlook is that there is to be a long and stubborn fight b-fore the matter is finally decided. Mrs.-Charles T. Williams has brought suit against M. R. Reese for damage in the sum of SIO,C‘JO for the murder of h.r husband. The action is under whut is known as the Lord Campbell act. Since the conviction of Reese for the murder, Mrs. \\ illiau s s attor neys think they have a dead open and shut game of it. Ihe case will be called tomorrow. Queen and Ramy’a son endeav ored to go home with the same girl, when Ike Ramy interfered in his son’s beha'f, the interference resulting in the shoo’ing. Queen has not been arrested. CAR WORKS SHUT DOM N fifteen hundred men are thrown OUT OF WORK IN MICHIGAN. , Detroit, Mich., Nov. 18. —The Peninsular car works have -shut down indefinitely and 1,500 men are out of employment. The works were re-opened six weeks ago with a force of 1,500 men working day and night. During last week hands were laid off in different d-partments until the climax came yesterday, when those who were left were given their dismissal.
