A Neat Irap New York, February 12 .--A World >.pecial from Key We.-tsaye : News uas been received in Hav ana that one of Weyler’s van guards, consisting of 500 men, was de eated by about the same num ber of insurgents, Colonel Parci, of Garcia’s army, near Remedies, on Sunday. The Span ish force had been sent forward to explore the location and inciden tally to cap urea Cuban hospital said to be on Mount Calvas, south of Remedies. As ’he Spanish troops marched up the steep hillside paths lead ing to the hospital. Parci’s men opened on them with rifles and a small fie d piece. Others of his command who had mounted the overhanging rocks flung down hand grenades and packages of p.o.vder and hu lets made into im provised hand grenades. The Span ish, surprised in the narrow path ways, attempted to rep y, but tbev had to shoot by guess. The insur gents threw down lighted pine knots and burning wisps of grass upon the Spanish column, giving them ample light to aim with accuracy. SPANIARDS ROUTED’ The Spanish foices stood the fire tor fifteen or twenty minutes t>nd tl en attempted to retreat, but another body of insurgents had gone around, and they now began ! ring into the rear of the Spanish b'rees.
