Beam Was Driven Through the Body of One. Blew the Children Off Into the Darkness. Silina, Kas., June 25. —A terrif ic cyclone passed 15 miles north west of this city at 10:30 o’clock, and as a result three persons are badly injured and may recover. The dead are: Mrs. Anna Geesy, aged 34. Nola Geesy, aged 13. Ida Geesy, aged 8. Four children arc badly injured. They are : Ivis, Gertrude and Sa die, daughters, and Lovie, a little son of Mrs . Geesy. The family had gone to bed and ■ were awakened by the wind. Mrs Geesy, with the children, started to go to a cyclone cave, but before they could leave the house it was blown into splinters. Mrs. Geesy was blown about 50 feet vast from the house, and a two-by-four beam was driven through one of her limbs. She died instantly. I Near her the neighbors found ROME GEORGIA, FRIDAY EVENING, JUNE 25, 1897 the bodies of Nola and Gertrude, and not far distant was Sadie, a B-year-old child, badly hurt, but still alive. The other three chil dren were found some distance west of the house, Gertrude’s face was cut, and the boy. Lovey, is in jured internally. From there the storm passed on to the east, but the extent of the damage is not known. The path of the cyclone at no place was more than a few hundred feet in width, but it was very windy. ( INSULT TO A MERCHANT’S WIFE ENDED IN MURDER. Traveling Man Shot by D. L. Curry at Corbin, Kentucky. Corbin,Ky ; June 42.- John Corley, traveling salesman for Strong and Theilheimer, of Lou isville, was shot five times and instantly killed dy Dau L. Curry, a business man of this city, at 1 o’clock this afternoon. Curry’s wife alleged (hat Corley insulted her on way home from Harrods burg recently. The two men met for the first time today. Corley went to Curry’s house, where the shooting took place. Curry sur rendered. STORM SWEPT Was Talbotton on Yesterday. House Destroyed. Talbotton, June 25- —A de structive storm passed over this place yesterday afternoon at 4 :B0 o’clock. The opera house and Thornton's warehouse were unreofed. Large numbers of trees and chimneys were blown down. Lightning struck one of the chimn ys of the court house, but did little damage.
