Governor Atkinson and his party spent yesterday in Eagle Pass enroute to Atlanta. They will reach this city Friday after a most delightful trip. Today the party will be in San Antonio and will remain there the entire day. Leaving that city, they will come direct to Atlanta with out making any further stops. The party is reported in fine spirits, and the members | have been given a great amount of attention. The trip has been a de’ightful one, and has been thoroughly enjoyed by every member of the party. The best known and most inter esting points in Mexico were visited, and the vistories of old towns and historic places wore related to the party, everything conductive to the comfort and pleasure of the part was done by the officials. The follow’ng dispatch from Sponford, Tex. , tells of the move ments of the party: “Sponford, Tex., January 24. — Gov. Atkinson and party reached Eagle Press this moi ling enroute from Mexico, They reported a most delightful visit to that republic and were spendidly I received by the officials everywhere “The party is in fine spirits and will spend tomorrow in San Anto nio, and will then go through to Atlanta ariving there Friday."— Constitution. Dr. W. D. Hoyt Foster Harper C. E. McLin J. P. Bowie Geo. M. Batley and B. I. Hughes. TWO LIVES LOST High Waters Caused Railroad Bridge To give Way Suddenly. Louisville, Jan. 24 —The high stag iof water in the Ohio was responsible for a railroad accident in New Albany at an early hour this morning, which resulted in the death of two men and the in juring ot two others. A part of the New Albany Belt and Teimiual railroad, a part of the Air-Line system, akirts the river bank on a steel trustle twenty feel high. The water had encroached upon the structure and so softened the earth about one of the pillars that the stone base became unsteady. A freight train had just reached the foot of Pearl street, when the steel, support gave way, causing the large span above it to bacome suddenly depressed. The locomotive topped over the side of the trestle and fell into the river. As it fell it broke from the adjoining car and the rest of the train was left standing on the trestle. Conductor Jahn Burke, of New Albany, and Brakeman Harry Miller, of Louisville, who were riding on the locomotive, were killed.
