CRUEL TORTURE
Inflicted on a Poor Farmer by
Masked Men.
Guthrie, O. T. , Feb. I.—Two
masked men broke into the house
ofLouis A. Stanwood, a recluse,
near Harvey, and tortured him by
sticking a knife into his limbsand
burning off his hair a.id whiskers
until he gave up bis money, which
amounted to but a few dollars.
They next visited the home of
John Hensley and rubbed him,
stopped J. C. McFarlan on the
road, robbed him of his money
and were going to a fourth place
when a shot from a rifle drove
them off. Luther Weaver and Will
Henderson, sons of promine it
ft rmers were arrested.
trave'ed, reposing among otlrr
passengers’ parcels in the rack
above the whist tai le. Next morn
ing the bundle was again sought
for its last trolley ride and con
signed to the Charles River Em
bankment collection, when a small
rent in the paper revealed, instead
of poor pussy, a fine roasting piece
of beef.
