Consecration Services at Connors Temple

Consecration services will begin
at the Connors Temple Baptist
Church on Monday night, January
7, and will continue t-hrough Fri
day night, January 11.
The Rev. W. W. Boyd of Albany,
Georgia will be the guest evangel
ist for the week of service, which
will begin nightly at 7:30 o’clock.
Each member is urged to be

Baptist Church
Services at the Second St. John
Baptist Church, Golden Street,
West Savannah, will begin at 9:45
a.m. with Dea. W. C. Ross, super
intendent, presiding.
At 2:00 P.M. holy communion
services will be held with the pas
tor, Rev. L. S. Aiken, in charge.
The Senior and No. 2 Choirs will
render music.
On Sunday night at 7:30 P.M.
the Senior Choir will render the
music and a candlelight service
will be held. Pastor Aiken will
be in charge.
Remember the sick and shut in
with your visits and prayers.
Visitors are always welcome to
worship at Second St. John Bap

Bethlehem
Baptist Church
Services were very inspiring
throughout the day. Sunday School
began at the usual hour with the
superintendent, Deacon David
Nichols in charge.
A very inspiring and heart
burning message was delivered by
the pastor at the morning hour
of worship. The Senior Choir rend
ered very nice singing. Rev. Stell
used as his theme “The Measure
Of Life.”
B.T.U. began at 6:15 with the
president Mrs. Williams, presid
ing. Evening worship began at
7:30 with the Rev. Louis S. Stell,
111, delivering the message. He
used as theme “Wait On God.”
Rev. Stell, 111, spoke at the First
African Baptist Church at the
11:00 morning worship. He deliv
ered an inspiring message, using
as his theme God’s Power To Do
Good. We wish him much success
in his future endeavors.
The pastor, officers, and mem
bers wish the public a happy and
prosperous New Year. The public
is invited to worship with us at
any time opportunity presents it
self.

A.M.E. Church
The business session of the frist
quarterly conference was held Fri
day evening at 7:30 p.m. with
Elder C. S. Stripling, presiding.
The conference was very success
ful with all organizations making
fine reports.
Services on Sunday were well
attended, beginning with Sunday
School at 10 a.m., Mrs. Agnes
Weston, superintendent, in charge.
During the morning service Elder
Stripling delivered the message.
The Junior Choir rendered music
with Mrs. A. Joyce at the console.
At seven o’clock a very inter
esting Christmas program was
presented and presents were given
to the Sunday School children
and teachers. Appreciation was ex
tended to the superintendent and
co-workers in charge.
Remember the sick and shut in
with your prayers. Pastor Plum
mer gave the closing remarks for
the day. Our church is always
open and the public is invited to
attend.

First Tabernacle
Baptist Church
Rev. H. Bussey was guest speak
er in the absence of Pastor E. G.
Lane on last Sunday, delivering
thought provoking sermons during
the day. Rev. Bussey is director,
Rural Church Life for the State
of Georgia. In the morning serv
ice the sermon was chosen from
“Finding Peace In this Confused
World.” The music was furnished
by Mrs. E. Blue, with members of
the two choirs serving.
Appreciation is expressed by the
large number of less fortunate
members who were reached during
the Holy season and our Pastor as
well for kin d rememberances
through members and auxiliaries
of the church.
Visitors included Bro. Nathan
Sprague from Chicago, Illinois,
Robert Sewell, Jr., and baby sister
from Jacksonville, Fla., and O. C.
Taylor from the Nation’s Capitol.
Our best wishes to Miss Eula M.
O’Neal who became the bride of
Mr. Robert Brown on December 7.
Mrs. Brown is a former youth
member and will soon join her
husband who is in the Armed
Forces.
All members are requested to
attend Sunday School this Sun
day and start the new year in
service for better living and dedi
cated service. This Thursday

Palen Methodist
Church
The Usher Board No. 2 of Palen
Methodist Church held its annu
al Christmas Party on Friday, Dec.
28, at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Earnest Sanders 826 W. 44th St
The house was beautifully dec
orated with Christmas decorations
and a lovely Christmas tree. Gifts
were exchanged by members of the
board and many guests received
lovely gifts.
Christmas carols were sung and
a series of games were played
which added much fun for all. A
delicious repast was served.
Among our many guest present
were Mrs. Itlean Hendrix of Scars
dale, N. Y. and our pastor, Rev. M.
E. McMillan. Remarks were made
by the president, Mr. Ernest Sand
ers wishing all a Merry Christmas
Season and a Happy New Year.

True Love
Baptist Church
On Sunday, Dec. 22 services at
True Love began at the usual
hour and was well attended. Sun
day School was under the super
vision of Deacon Samuel King as
sisted by Deacon Richard Benja
min. and Marcus Sumpter.
“The people that walked in
darkness have seen a great light
that dwell in the land” was the
subject used by the pastor foi his
morning message. The No. 2 Choir
rendered music. Visitors were Mr.
and Mrs. Bernard Hayes of New
York City; Miss Jennie Cooper,
Mrs. Lillie G. Mason.
At the Sunday School’s Christ
mas program gifts were given the
children. The pastor’s message
was from the subject, “For Unto
us a Child is born unto us a son
is Given.” Choirss No. 1 and 2 and
the Gospel Chorus rendered music.
Visitors were Rev. D. S. James
and Mr. and Mrs. Campbell of
New York City.
The first Holy Communion serv
ice of the year will begin Sunday
at 2:30 p.m.

with prayers and visits. The pub
lic is always invited to attend the
services at True Love Baptist

At Central
Baptist Church
Services were largely attended
on last Sunday. The message was
delivered by Rev. Daniels with the
text taken from the Sunday School
lesson. Christmas carols rendered
by the William Daniels Singers
were grand.
Sympathy to the Baker and
Cooper families and to Sis. Anna
Williams and family in the loss of
their uncle.
Sunday will be the first com
munion of the year. A large num
ber is expected.
We were happy to see Bro.
James Coxen out after sustaining
a broken ankle. Visit our shut in
members with a word of prayer.
The pastor, Rev. W. M. Daniels
and members wish our many
friends a very prosperous New
Year.

Bethel AME
Church
The Sunday School at Bethel
AME Church began at the usual
9:50 hour. The minister, Rev. A.
B. Wilson, presided.
, The attendance banner was won
by the Intermediate Class and the
Beginners Class was the recipient
of the financial banner.
At the morning hour of worship
Rev. Charles Drummer, a son of
the church, brought an inspiring
message.
The NAACP mass meeting was
held at the church at five o’clock.
The congregation is very proud
of the progress made during the
past year under the leadership of
Rev. A. B. Wilson and is very
grateful to God for his return to
the pastorate of the church.
It is our prayer that God will
continue to guide the restiny of
the minister and the church, ac
cording to His holy will.
On Sunday, January 6, Holy
communion will be observed. Sun
day will also be known as “D”
Day (Double Your Attendance
Day). Each member is asked to
bring someone with him.
The public is invited to attend.

Baptist Church
Services at Second Mt. Zion
Baptist Church began at the usual
time with Sunday School at 10:30
a.m. with our superintendent, Miss
Pamela Palmer in charge. The
Christmas program was held on
Dec. 30. The Sunday School chil
dren received Christmas gifts for
attending Sunday School so faith
fully. Miss Lillie Mae Palmer was
mistress of ceremonies.
We are sponsoring the Spiritual
Light Gospel Singers on January
13 and the public is invited. A
free will offering will be asked.
The public is invited to worship
with us at any time.
Prayer meeting is held every
Thursday at 8 p.m. Communion is
held every third Sunday at 3:30
p.m.
Let us remember the sick and
shut-in members. Come to church
