family was anxious to return from
their Yuletide holidays in order to
perform their many school tasks.
Twelve Girl Scouts are attend
ing the Savannah Gas Cooking un
der the direction of Mrs. Ruby
Myers, Homemaking Specialist.
The Thrift Club has begun to
prepare for its program this
month. The girls and boys came
back with a greater determination
to encourage the pupils to pur
chase more saving stamps.
The Slags are in the process of
making the library more attractive
for readers and visitors. week

The activity will include exam
ples of media that are being used
in the class to meet the needs of
each youngster in gaining requir
ed knowledge and skills in order
to understand the world in which
they live.

tion pupils will attend the youth
symphony concert on Thursday
morning at the municipal auri
torium.
Many interesting stories and
poems are being written in con
nection with our creative writing
program.

will be celebrating National YWCA
Week from January 20-27, 1963.
Gra-Y, Tri-Gra-Y, Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y
Clubs and Gradale and Phalanx
Chapters will join in this observ
ance by attending and worshipping
in local churches as groups on
YMCA Sunday, January 27. Many
of these clubs will be rendering
program and activities in their
respective schools during National
YMCA Week.
EDUCATIONAL TOURS FOR
STUDENTS
Educational Tours designed to
give Senior, Junior and Elemen
tary School students a better con
ception of America and early Col
onial times, and how the Federal
Government functions in Washing
ton, D. C., have been planned by
the YMCA Adult Program Travel
Club of the West Broad Street
YMCA.
Of the six tours that have been
planned, the Easter holidays edu
cational tour will draw the largest
number of participants from Flo
rida, Georgia and South Carolina.
These tours are not limited to
student groups, in that adult
groups composed of county-wide
teachers organziations, art groups,
school faculty groups and civic and
club groups made up of interested
citizens are eligible to go on these
tours.
These groups will stay at first
class hotels while on these tours,
and will have the advantage of
having an escorted tour of the
cities where they will visit. These
escorted tours are included in the
tour cost.
The tours now being offered
are:
1. Washington, Philadelphia and
New York — Easter time or aftei
school.
2. Washington, Philadelphia,
New York and Boston. Christmas
holidays or after school.
3. Thanksgiving Tour to Wash
ington, D. C. (Three days) Eastei
time or after the close of school
4. Miami, Florida Tour — Week
end of Easter, Christmas and
Thanksgiving.
5. New Orleans and Gulf Coast
