Thursday’'s Wrestling Card To
Feature Montana and The Bat
Ladies Night Set
Thursday . has been proclaimed
Ladies Night at the professional
wrestling matches in the Sports
Center, Dr. Joseph Cassius an
nounced yesterday.
The chairman of the Savannah
Wrestling Advisory Committee
said women would be admitted for
half price this week.
Other admission charges remain
the same: ringside, $2:50; general
admission, $1.50; and children, 50
cents. Servicemen also are ad
mitted for the half price 75-cent
ticket.
Thursday’s program is headlin
ed by a main event between Lenny
Montana and The Bat, two of
the wildest and toughest brawlers
on the circuit. :
Montana is a rugged 6-foot-5,
250-pound competitor from New
York. The Bat is a 235-pounder
who calls Carlsbad Caverns, No.
Mex., home. 3
The pairing is unusual in that
both grapplers own the reputations
of villains. Montana has battled
the lecal favorite, Chief Little
Eagle, to two non-decisions. The
Bat whipped Little Eagle in two
straight falls last week.
The match is slated two falls of
three within a one-hour limit.
Thursday’s semifinal pits Bill
Lawley, a familiar face here,
against newcomer John Paul Hem
ning in a two of three falls 45-
minute scrap.
The opener on the three-match
program sends Darrell Cochran
against 3ed Dugan. The latter
has refereed several bouts in the
local ring but has yet to partici
pate as a wrestler.
