WCDNESDAY MORNING. 00T^27,1869
Tiie City of Athanta and thb Geor
gia Raituoah.— We flnrl the followina'Com
municatiou in the Atlanta Constitution, ad
dressed to the editor of that paper :
In the local columu of your paper of this
dyo, appears the rollowinp :
Heavy Buit Against tii® Georgia
Railroad. — We learn that the City Coun
cil of Atlanta will, In a days, enter
suit against the Georgia Road, for SIOO,OOO
damages for obstructing Butler street. The
injunction case will not be heard ou Mon
day next, owing to the absence of counsel.”
We regret to see such prominence given
to a very simple issue, between the city
authorities and the Georgia Railroad Com
pany, and which will, in a few days at
furthest, be decided by the proper judicial
tribunal, before which it is now pending.
The question at issue is, briefly this:
The Georgia Railroad Was surveyed and
located through the town of Marthasvllle,
now Atlanta, 1n 1844, and was finished in
1846. From that time till the prwent,
(tweuty-flve years) the road has been Using
the same tracks through the city, and run
ning across what is known as Bntlet street.
The cq/npany allege that at-the ttme of the
survey aud location of their route, in 1844,
there was no such street as that called
Butler, laid out and recognized by the town
authorities. The -city claims that there
was, ami that the road lias obstructed it.
This is the sole issue, and when decided,
we apprehend that either party* will ac
quiesce. In the decision of the court, and
there the matter will doubtless end.
As to suit by the City Council of .At
lanta for SIOO,OOO damaged against the
Georgia Railroad, we have to say, none
such has been commenced, nor do wc
believe it will be. At any rate, would it
not have been advisable to have waited
until sueli an action had been instituted
before making the Announcement to the
world? Especially as such publicatioris
are not calculated to confer any particular
benefit upon either the city or road.
Controversies between any of the rail
roads terminating here and the city au
thorities should, if possible, be avoided.
Their interests are mutual and dependent.
The success of the one is the prosperity of
the other. What injures the one necessa
rily damages the other. The Georgia Road
lias, so far as we know, ever exercised the
kindest feelings and acts toward the city
of Atlanta; and wc have no doubt, be the
decision of the court what it majr in the
the premises, whether for or against the
city, the “Butler street” question will
finally be adjusted to the satisfaction of
both parties. L. J. Glenn & Son,
Attorneys for the Road.

To Pbvent Smut m Wheat.—A corres
pondent writing from Warren Pa., to the
New York Farmers’ Club, says?
“ I have been in the habit of raising
wheat on my own account, in this and
the old country, for upwards of sixty years,
and for at least fifty of these years never had
any. I give you my preventive sos the pub
lic good. My opinion is that the cause is a
fungus, that must be killed, and blue vitriol
will do it; and this is the process? Have
some vessel that will hold your seed and
take four ounces of vitriol to each bushel of
whea*t; dissolve in hot water, then fill into
your vessel as mnch cold water as iron
think will float your quantity of seed,;ldd
your dissolved vitriol, then pot your wheat
in by smalls and skim off any refuse; when
done, allow the whole to stand for two
hours, and then drain off the w&ter by a
fancet at the bottom. Do this In the evert
ing, and your seed is perfectly dry and
ready to sow in the morning by hand or
mafchihe. Ho lime or anything else is ne
cessary, and if promptly done, I will insure
the crop for a small premium.” - * y
; —.—. ' ' J
Ashes fob Wheat.— They operate as a
manure upon the wheat, even in the limited
qaautily of eight bushels per acre.
They push the wheat forward several
days, am! in time to escape the hot, sultry
days, which often prevail about the time of
the “ heading out" of the wheat.
They strengthen the stem, gtving it sub.
stance and solidity. « ,l i-
They afford Jnst that kind of food which
Is best for the development and perfection
of the grain, and will prevent the ravaged
his wheat, as above indicated, and in so do
ing be will effectually' guard against abd
prevent the rust In his wheat. , ; f

aggravated by the presence of scrofulous matter,
have been radically cured in such numerous in
stances, in every settlement In the country, that the
public dtf not need to be informed here that it is in
most cases a specific and absolute remedy.
Scrofulous poison is one of the most destructive
enemies of our race. Often, this unseea and unfelt
tenant of the organism undermines the constitution,
and invites the attack of enfeebling or fatal diseases,
without exciting a suspicion of its presence. Again,
it seems to breed infection throughout the body, ana
then, op some favorable occasion, rapidly develop
into one Or other of its hideous forms, either on the
surface or among the vitals, lu the latter, tuber
cles inay bo suddenly deposited In the lungs or
heart, or tumors formed in the liver. These facta
moke the occasional use of the Sarsaparilla as a
preventive, advisable.
It is a mistake to suppose that so song a3 no erup

but is also engendered in persons bom of pure
blood. Do# liyiag, indigestion* unit air, licentious
habits, uncleanliuess, and the depressing vices gen
erally, produce it. Weakly constitutions, where not
fortified by the most constant and judicious care,
are peculiarly liable to it. let the robust, also,
whose turbid "blood swelb the veins with an appar
ently exuberant vitality', are often contaminated,
and on the road to its consequences. Indeed, no
class or condition can depend on immunity from
it, nor feel insensible to the importance Qf ap effec

In St. Anthony's Ifire, Base or Erysipelas,
for Tetter, Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Ring
*worm, Sore Ears and Eyes, and other eruptive
or visible forms of the diseases caused primarily by
the scrofulous infection, the Sarsaparilla is so ef

Concealed forms, as in Dyspepsia,Dropsy, Heart
Disease, fits, Epilepsy, Neuralgia, and other
affections of the muscular and nervous systems, tha
Sarsaparilla, through its purifying power, re
moves the cause of the disorder and produces qston
ishing cures.
The sarsaparflla root of the tropics does not by
itself achieve these results. It is aided by the ex
tracts combined with it, of still greater power. So
potent is this union of healing virtues, Syphilis or
Venereal and Mercurial Diseases are cured by
