In portions of Monroe and Butts coun ties, the Advertiser says, there is great com plaint of the scarcity of farm laborers. In a great many instances, Cnffee plainly re fuses to contract, except upon the most, outrageous terms, and much trouble is created in consequence. The reseating of the niggers seems to have again unhinged his mind and revived that vagne and inde finite hope of “ a division.’ The Rome Commercial says upwards of one hundred Federal soldiers, infantry, ar rived in that city ou Sunday night last, and *we learn that a cavalry company is also on the way. Troops said to be for Chat tooga county. . The Columbus, LaGraDge and Rome pa pers are advocating the Immediate con struction of a railroad from the former place to Kingston, ,or Rome; the Courier sidvocating Rome as the terminus. It is proposed to apply to the Legislature for a charter, and also State aid. 9 The Macon Telegraph and Messenger has beeu shown a very dangerous counterfeit S2O bill. It is an excellent imitation of the genuine, except as to color and quality of paper. The lace of the bill presents rather a lighter appearance than the gennine, and the'paper is father course. Look out for them. The Savannah Bcfntblican says the City Council have reduced retail liquor license from $l5O to $125; billiard license from $75 to S4O ; and ten pin alley tax f’VPi SSO to S3O. The Macon Telegraph and Messenger says: Since the present rise in the price of cotton set in, the staple has been arriving quite freely, and if the price keeps up a little while, the small remuants «f the crop of 1809-70, now scattered about through the country and still in the hands of planters, will all be sent in. A negro woman who entered the yard of Mr. Jack Welsh, near Columbus, a few nights since, to steal chickens, was seized and so badly bitten by a dog that she died ana very short time. Brevet Lieutenant Colonel E. W. Smith, Captain United States Array, is announced as Secretary of Civil Afl’airs for the Mili tary District of Georgia, by general orders of General Terry. “ Civil affairs ” in a military district, Indeed. The net proceeds of the Catholic Fair, lately held in Savannah, for the benefit of the orphan girls in charge of the Sisters of Mercy, amounted to $3,100. Arrival of Dick Yates.—That was Dick Yates, that ever gay and festive Illi nois Senator,‘who was arrested in the la dles’ parlor»at the passenger shed, day be fore yesterday, vyhile in the act of taking off his clothes. We stated yesterday that he had peeled down to his shirt and draw era, and was about hanling them off, when a policeman arrived and informed him that he was not in the dining room of Willard’s Hotel. [Macon Telegraph and Messenger, 21th. Sudden Death.—We regret to learn of the death of one of our esteemed sub scribers, Mr. W. T. Toole, of White Ponds. Mr. Toole, while on his way to Augusta a short time since iu an open wagon, caught a severe cold, and, getting worse, saddenly died at Aiken before his friends could get him any nearer home. I have been a Cotton Planter tor thirty years, and ali the time—except this year—making “ Bumble-bee Cotton"—the bumble bees stand on their hind feet, on the ground, and suck from the top blossoms. Since then I have had Mr. Wm. PRATT, CHEMIST FOR THE SULPHURIC ACID AND SUPERPHOSPHATE COMPANY. SOLUBLE PHOBPHORIO ACID, in the form of SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE OF LIME or DISSOLVED BONE PHOSPHATE, is the basis of all good Fertilizers, and these are valuable in the ratio ol Soluble Phosphoric Acid which is in them. The immense deposits of Phosphatic Guanos which were discovered In 1867, in South Caro lina, by Dr. PRATT, consists mainly of Insoluble Phosphate of Lime, which is made available as a Fertilizer by being ground .to powder, and reduced by Sulphuric Acid to such a condition a& to make its insoluble phosphate soluble in water, and thus made capable of being taken up by growing plants. The Insoluble phosphate found iu any Commercial Fertilizer fa ol no more, value lo the plant than the original phosphate rock. The greater the proportion of this soluble, phosphate which any fertilizer contains, the less the quantity required per aw, aud consequent ly the cheapest Fertilizer is that containing the highest per centage oi Soluble Phosphate. Impressed with these truths, the 80LFHURIC ACID AND SUPERPHOSPHATE COM PANY have erected at Charießtou the first extensive Acid Chambers South of Baltimore and are able to.offer to Planters the HIGHEST PER CENTAGE OF SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE OF 1.1 ME known in any market. Their Fertilizers are offered under two forms ; 1. ETIWAN, No. I.—PURE SOLUBLE PHOSPHATE, guaranteed to contain 2A per of Dissolved Bone Phosphate of Lime, *6O per ton : 10 per cent, discount for cash 2. ETIWAN, No. 2. PERUVIAN SUPERPHOSPHATE, guaranteed to contain 20 ner cent, of Dissolved Bone Phosphate, and to 8 per cent, of Ammonia, with a sufficient ad'- diiion of Peruvian Goano to adapt it to all crops, *7O per ton; 10 per cent, discount for castu Analysis of Etiwan Fertilizer, No. 1. MEANS, Inspector, Savannah, Chatham county, Ga. The foregoing analysis of the Etiwan Fertilizer, No. 1, indicates a hlfch proportion of Soluble Phosphoric Aold, an indispensable element In the production of fruitage for Cotton, Corn and the Ceveals generally, and which, in this condition, acts promptly during the first year. The amount of Insoluble Phosphate of Lime which it contains—equal to 10.41 per cent —remains in the soli, to undergo chemical re action favorable to a sncceeding crop. It will rank, there fore, amongst the most reliable of the class of Phosphate Manures. A. MEANS, Inspector. N. B.—ETIW4N, No. 2, is same as No. 1, with Peruvian Guano added as ammonia. NT. JL. PRATT, Chemist. WE ALSO OFFER DISSOLVED BONE, of high grade, for Planters or Manufacturers, who may desire to mix into any other compost, and we suggest that this is the best and cheapest method for man ufacturers to transport the Sulphuric Acid contained in the mixture. Will be 60ld at a fixed rate lor each per centage. STOVALL. & ROWLAND, AGENTS AT AUGUSTA, GA. WM. O. BEE 6c 00., Agents, NO. 14 ADGERS WHARF, CHARLESTON, S.
