Frightful Developments —The Bnae , groom of a Kijht. The Auburn Advertiser i3 responsible •for the following harrowing account of an affair which happened a few days ago in that village of the plain.” It states that a gctiiictnan from the West was recent! married in that city, find re tired to res? in the bridal chamber of the Blanque Hotel, in company with his blooming bride, whose rosy cheeks, sur passing the rich bloom of Pomona’s choices: brilliant eyes, vieing in sparkle with the diamond’s lustre; teeth excell ing Orient Pearl ; lips of cherry plump ness and color, trim Duilt limbs, eclipsing the statuesque proportions of sculptured marble; flowing tresses of more than Hy perion iuxurienee and glossiness of text jpfre—in short, whose every grace, com rVtned with full chested healthiness arid fascinating appearance generally, had won him rapidly at the previous even ing’s bah, to the subsequent calling in • of a $lO greenback in matumony. An alarm of fire aroused the sleeping bridegroom in the small hours of the morning, and without disturbing his fair partner, he bounced out to the hall and loud the alarm to be a false one.— lieturning to his chamber he turned on the gas, when —horrible to relate—he discovered, as he supposed, the mortify ing fact that he had mistaken the room. Too much bewildered to collect his dis turbed faculties, his eyes' mechanically took in a heterogenous display of horrors strewn about (he apart ment in chairs, on tables and the floor, and suspended to the bed posts, which caused him to suspect he had entered the den of soma practical anatomist; for upon the bed, clearly defined by the light of the now blazing gas, lay the shape of an al toosi. flc.4ks skeleton, with bare skull and oaiv one browless, lashless rye; tooth less, pale lipped mouth ; wrinkled brow and sunken cheek ; shrunken limbs and consumptive thoiax. About the premises lay fragments of humanity, to all appearance—here an eye, freed from its socket, but glassy and sparkling, there a grinning row of white teeth, detatehed from the jaws, but with the gums still adhering ; a mass of hu man hair, just as it might have been scalped from the skull; two fragments of human limbs, constituting what appeared to be the fleshy paif, or calf ol the leg; • also, what seemed to be a female bust, or chest, still moving as in the act of res piration , while near it were the inner por tions (apparently artificial) of two hu man’ cheeks ; a saucer of rouge, hair five-, seven bottles of cosmetics, peail powder, a stay lace in six fragments, a box bear ing the label, “patent false calves;” ar- Other labelled “plumpers for the cheek ;” still another r arked “(leavers;” a set of ‘‘patent eyebrows.and lashes” were group ed about, and added to the light which was breaking over the mystified bride groom, who upon finally approaching the bed succeeded in tracing amid the bones and parchment there, extended what was left after subtracting the machinery of his lately blooming biido.
