Mr. i'. Matthews, who, for the last five years has
conducted choirs in the Presbyterian and Episcopal
churches in Charleston, will instruct m vocal and
instrumental music. We speak that we do know,
and “testify that we have seen,” when we assert

to teach arc of a very high order, liis method of I
teaching vuenl music is new; and experience here
amply demonstrates, not only its entire success, but
the utter uselesncss of old systems.
