The Liberty Loan Drive.
In another column of the Tribune
is published a complete roster of
the Atkinson county organization
to look after the Fifth Liberty
Loan Drive, which is to begin after
the Lenten season has passed.
The Tribune is aware that the
people have been called upon to
contribute to so many projects,
other than war measuies, during
the past year or two, that they
have become weary. They w ant a
rest on the gift and loan business
for a season, until they can make a
crop at least.
But the government can't afford
to wait for its loan; that must be
forthcoming at once, and it is the
duty of the people to face it like
good citizens and get it off their
hands as quickly as possible. It
is a patriotic duty the people owe
the government to bring it out of
the war safely and in a healthy
financial condition. Let's do it!
Is there a man in Atkinson coun
ty who is not proud to be an
American citizen? That his life,
liberty, property and the pursuit
of happiness is safeguarded by
"< >ld <}lory,” the flag of the great
est and most powerful nation on
earth? If there is one not prompt
ed by love of country to contribute
to this fifth and last loan drive,
when it is possible for him to do
so, let his or her face be hidden in
shame. The goal is not far ahead
and can be easily reached with the
proper effort.
Notice to Trustees.
If there is an urgent need for re
pairs or additions to your school
building, or if it is not properly
equipped, also if then* are any new
school houses to be built, it is de
sired that recommendations for
same be made to the Board of Ed
ucation on its next regular meet
ing, which is the first Tuesday in
May. Respectfully,
Sankey Booth, Supt.
Zapata is dead and now, if Villa
could be placed beneath the sod.
Mexico would breathe easier.
They are the last arch enemies of
that ill fated country.
