The old year, 1020, with its sue cesses and failures, its triumphs and reverses, its victories and its defeats, its joys and its sorrows, its gladness and its heartaches, ■will then be buried in the#rave of the past. •While the Tribune hopes lessons of wisdom have been learned from the experiences of the old year, it is far more profitable to let the dead past remain buried. To re call them only tends to intensify them and oftimes to bring cares out of season with which it were better to dispense. However, let us cherish the knowledge we have learned from them. What the new year has in store for us is hard to discern; Jet us look for good all along the path way and we will rarely be dis appointed; let us have the moral courage to do our full duty to Hod and man, and the result will be just what we would have it. Lot us take courage from the past and pursue the future with vigor. Elder and Mrs. John P. Smith went over to Adel Thursday morn to spend a couple of days with re latives. Theyear 1920 will soon be a thing of the past, so why not forget your troubles and disappointments and face the stern realities of the New Year with a smile! It is now stated that Gov. Dor sey has decided not to call an extra session of the legislature. Can’t see where it would be profitable to any except legislators. The Bullock Times gobbled up the Statesboro Eagle at one sitting and now complains of corpulency. Too big a bird for one sitting tin less you be a cormorant. Tkfc Jesup Banking Company, recently placed in the hands of the State Banking Department, is to be recognized and resume business January 1. The capital stock will then be increased. The census of 1920 adds another congressman to Georgia’s delega tion. The next legislature will provide for locating the Thirteenth district. The Tribune believes it w ill come to South Georgia. The Thomasvilic woman who went to the polls to vote and gave the manager her grocery list, in stead of her ballot, is no worse than the man who voted a cheek for SI,OOO instead.of a ballot, lie got his check back but lost bis vote. The Tribune is in receipt of sev eral handsome New Year calendars. Tnc prettiest of them was one from the Douglas Auto Company and one from Armour \ Company. Tifton, Ga. The latter is sent out as an appeal for better sires in the raising of cattle and hogs. It should be heeded. The anti saloon leaguers, who asks Congress to enact a statute permitting the search of automo biles for whiskey without a search warrant, are a sample of the people who provoked the enactment of the Eighteenth Amendment itself. Should Congress be so silly as to grant this request, it would lay the foundation for the biggest insnr recti on America ever known. Morris and children spent Christmas at the home of bis father, Mr. Thomas Morris. Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Boberts, of Pearson, were the week end guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie McKinnon. A large crowd attended Sunday School at Harmony Grove church last Sunday afternoon. Everybody is invited to come. Mr. Norman Stoefiler was the welcome caller at the home of Miss Lena Stewart Sunday evening. “Lena looked pleased.” Mr. and Mrs, Pasco Morris and Leslie Rodgers spent Christmas in Enigma with Mrs. Morris's grand mother, Mrs. \V. I. Patrick. Mr. Norman Stoelller has return ed from the hospital at Valdosta, where he underwent art operation for appendicitis; he is improving fast, Mesdames Wheeler and Smith, Miss Minnie Lou and Messrs. Sou and Tom Wheeler were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Rodgers last Sunday. Mrs. Bhoda Metis is -now very ill. She has been sick for several months and is now in a serious condition. We all hope her a speedy recovery. Mr. Virgil McKinnon and Miss Lueile Davis were quietly married at the home of the bride last Fri day afternoon, and we extend to them our best wishes. Christmas, the greatest ol all holidays, is over and hope every body enjoyed the occasion as much as wo Harmony Grove folks did, Santa Claus came to sec us every one. Messrs. Walter and Johnny Cook, Edwin and Reason Morris, Yernie Starling and William Metis were the pleasant callers at the home of Misses Estelle Morris and Edna Feilrick last Sunday afternoon. Mr. Ephraim McLendon visited relatives and friends in Douglas on Christmas day. Old Santa Claus visited Misses Lucy Gutbrfr* and Malinda Spivy last Frida.'.- night. Miss Malinda Spivey spent Tues day night at the hone of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Henderson. The candy pulling at the borne of Mrs. Missouri Spivey last Sat urelay night was eftjoyed by many. Miss Lucy Guthrie spent Satur day night with Miss Malinda Spivey and said she enjoyed her self. Misses Mary and Eula Spivey were visitors at the home of Mr. W, R. Guthrie last Saturday after noon. Messrs. Randall and Charlie Spivey and Robbie Vining went bird hunting and brought home a heavy bag of game. Mrs. Margaret Sears, Ella Fair Mixson and daughter, Beatrice, spent Qhristmas day at the home of Mrs. Missouri Spivey. Miss Ella Fair Mixon and daughter, Beatrice, from Pearson are spending the Christmas holi days with her mother, Mrs. Mar garet Sears. The people of this community are sorry to learn that Messrs. W. R. Guthrie and \V. M. Joyce are going to move to another section of the county. Mr. David Henderson is visiting this week in Tifton, being the guest of Ins sou in-law, Mr. J. W. Tanner, w ho is an employee of the Tifton Cotton Mill. Mr. and Mrs. W in. Barlow and their son, Needham, from near Homerville, were welcome visitors at the home of her sister, Mrs. Missouri Spivey, last Saturday and Sunday. Misses Ardeliaand Beulah Joyce and Lucy and Anna Guthrie, and Messrs. Riley and Warren Joyce and Lucius and Gerald Guthrie were welcome visitors at the home of Mrs, Missouri Spivey Saturday night.
