Diphtheria is Spreading.
Up to the present time the Stale
Hoard of Health has IVeri called
upon to furnish more than twice
much antitoxin as during the same
period last, year. This, of course,
would indicate that this disease is
much more prevalend than usual,
and that every precaution should,
he taken to prevent its spread. T<
this end the State Board ol IJealll
has issued the follow ini' instnn
lions to parents and teachers:
1. Renumber that Diphtheria is
spread through secretions of tin
nose and mouth.
2. Do not allow children to visit
where there is a case of Diphtheria.
3. Do not permit the children at
school to use the same drinking
cup or dipper; use individual cups
or sanitary drinking fountains.
4. Keep the children away from
softdrink places unless these places
use individual drinking utensils.
5. Do not allow children to put
such objects as pencils, toys and
“plaything” in their mouths.
6. When the child shows any
signs of a sore throat call the doc
tor at once.
7. Do not overlook the fact that
we have only one remedy for Diph
theria: ANTITOXIN.

Diphtheria en Increase.
The State Board of Health has
sent out warning that the dread
disease, ‘‘diphtheria” has increased
to an alarming extent within the
State, more than one hundred per
cent within the past month.
The Board warns physicians and
leading business men throughout
the State to supply themselves if
they have not already done so,
with diphtheria serum. The out
look is that they will have need
for it.

The Georgia Association.
Georgia’s farming and stock rais
ing opportunities are to be strictly
continuously advertised in publica
tions of national circulation under
an arrangement just completed by
the Georgia Association with one
of the largest advertising agencies.
Also a thorough and business like
follow-up plan, with the Commiss
ioner of Agriculture and Immigra
tion actively co operating, has been
set in Georgia.
Up to date statistics on Geor
gia’s crops and live stock and her
marketing conditions are being pre
pared in the Commissioner’s office
with the view of publication in an
interesting and attractive i I lust
rated booklet, which will be mail
ed to farmers in other states who
are. attracted by the Georgia ad
vertising campaign. Commission
er, Brown, in addition, is adding
his personal invitation to such
farmers to visit Georgia and ex
tending a welcome to every home
seeker.
At the same time, the Georgia
Association is collecting a list of
lands offered for sale by its mem
bers in every county which has
joined in tbe'advertiaing plan and
is giving its co-operation. For this
purpose, a special land owners’ and
real estate agents’ blanks has been
prepared which carries a remark
able advertising and sales service.
This blank has been approved by
several of Georgia’s most experi
enced an d responsible real
estate dealers and landowners, and
many requests have been made for
it by Georgia men with land to
sell in ail parts of the .State.
Advertising copy for the first
listing of farms, homes and factory
sites is now being prepared, with
the expectation of starting the first
distribution of the printed list be
fore November Ist, when the travel
starts South.
A field organization has been
formed by the Georgia Association
to visit those counties which indi
cate a desire for more farmers and
landowners, with more capital in
vested in agriculture and other in
dustries and offer co-operation with
the Association. Motion pictures
of Georgia farms and special trips
by railroad industrial agents to
sections where large groups of pros
pective borne seekers may be reach
ed are also a part of the proposed
campaign. Comprehensive an d
detailed follow up ideas are being
worked out, which promise,
through the co operation of public
officials and private citizens with
the national advertising, to do a
great deal for Georgia’s progress
and development,
