This fact proves that while Catarrh is a local disease, it is greatly influenced by constitutional conditions. HALL’S CATARRH MEDICINE is a Tonic and Blood Puri fier, and acts through the blood upon the mucous surfaces of the body, thus reducing the inflammation and restor ing normal conditions. By Ruth Skipper. 'Twas at daybreak when-Sparta’s message came. They wanted war and Athenian Greece to take, Today their pettiness is a disgrace to Athenian Greece’s name. Where is Athens today! And where did Sparta awake? Sparta was as cruel as a country has ever been And 1 ask you what did it profit her, And where did her Empire end? Dishonesty was her motto some historians say. She left nothing to prove her honesty And few honor her today. Failings? I admit Athens had some So has our country today. But we. of the twentieth century, Do not honor Sparta’s petty way. The Spartan’s brave? Yes they were Through cruelty they made this so. They tortured their men and seemed not to care What pain the mother's boy was to know. * Then must 1 speak well For ancient Sparta and with her be at peace Whom no country could a secret tell. And who betrayed Athenian Greece. Now, here’s to her I say, Though she's passed and gone That among those who do not honor her today I am one. THE REPLY. By Jesse A. Lankford. Athenian Greece was a Nation, Of foreign descent she must have been. Often Sparta and Athens were fighting, But between nations was that a sin? After the sun went down on the battle field, Staunched with Spartan's gory red; After the night came creeping, And 10, 1 heard the sound of Athenian mother’s weeping. Yes, gone from this country, far away To a better one; God bless her 1 know Many an Athenian on the battle field has been slain. Their lives ebbed out in bloody rain. Mothers may come and sons may go But in history you will ever tell, With Athens’s pomp and all her show Sparta’s cruelty was raging hell. Some great day when Ruth awakes She’ll find the stand that I have taken. Bless Athens, bless Sparta. God bless them all. They lived and fought together in Heaven tbeymeetor fall Of cruelty Sparta had moro than her share, But to blame her to me is not fair. Ruth gives the Spartans this and that And I flare up and get my hat. Let them burn and kill forever more, Ne‘r let it touch America’s shore, Let foreign nations alone my dear. For when you die they’ll shed not a tear. » Please excuse me for this time. I know its not the rule. But I had to say it this time And if Sparta is not forgotten, I'am a fool. LEGAL BLANKS.
