BAKER WAS TOR J UP BY THE RECENT STORM IN PENSACOLA. A letter has been received from A. H. Baker, who formerly removed from this city to Pensacola, Fla., where he was in charge of the turpentine still plant of his brother, M. A. Baker, an nouncing that the plant had been almost entirely wrecked by the terri ble storm which visited Pensacola and other gulf ports last week. Air. Baker described the storm as the worst he has ever heard of, and says that the entire city was more or less damaged. At the plant of the local people, great damage was done and the loss will be heavy. The build ing occupied 'by the plant was blown down entirely, most of the machinery, etc., ruined, and was put out of busi ness completely by the gale. Air. Balter also suffered considerable damage at his residence in Pensacola, where the water rushed in almost up to the floors and all of his household goods, etc., were damaged. Air. AI. A. The Glynn aerie of Eagles have de cided to swoop down on the Central City next Thursday morning and consequently twenty-five of the warm est birds of the bunch will leave the city Wednesday night and will spend the day as the guests of the Alacon aerie, which by the way Is one :T the largest in the state. The Eagles are going to Macon in great shape and are now endeavoring to secure a special Pullman car for their exclusive use. The Southern railway has named the attractive rate of $(1.37 for the round trip, which will insure quite i large attendance, and all in all tne trip promises to be quite a pleasant one.
