Interesting Meeting.
OsMhorpe lodge, Knights of Pyth
ias, held an interesting meeting in
their hall last night, disposing of a
number of routine matters.
Was a Hot Day.
The prediction of the weather man
some time ago that we would soo.i
have some cool weather, has not yet
proved true. It has been unusually
warm for October, and yesterday the
mercury was up Into the nineties.
A Scarcity of Fish.
All of the fish houses in the city
are complaining of a scarcity of fish
just, now, and there really Is not the
supply in the city to meet the de
mand. A few real active fishermen
with well-equipped boats would Ann
the industry profit able.
On the Marine Railway.
The Fernandina tug Hildegard has
been in port several days undergoing
a number of repairs on the marine
railway of the Parker-Hansell Engl
nueering Company. She will probably
return to Fernandina today.
New Coal and Wood Yard.
Attention is directed to the advev
tisement of the Iverson Coal & Woof
Company, elsewhere in this issue
These gentlemen will open business
at the corner of I street and Cochran
avenue on Monday, October 8, ana
solicit n share of the patronage.
The Finishing Touches.
Contractor Cmmzelnian is now pul
ling the finishing touches to me new
Padrosa building on Newcastle street,
which by the way is one of the hand
somest in the city. The second floor
has been fitted up for offices and the
first is arranged for an up-to-date
storehouse.
Report a Good Time.
The thirty members of tlm Glynn
aerie of Eagles who attended the fair
at Macon on Thursday all report a
delightful time. They say they were
royally treate 1 by the angles of the
Central City and that everything )x>B
- was done to make their trip a
pleasant one. The fair, they report,
is a big success.
