Putting in Drains.
A large force of the city is still
busily engaged In putting In the
■wooden drains Slong Mansfield street
from Unlon'To Bay. Two of these
drains have already been completed,
and'while they do not add any to the
£ tractiveness of the vicinity. It is
pec ted that they will answer the
purpose for which they are intended.
Killed Four Deer.
A party of deer hunters returnee
yesterday afternoon from Cumberland,
where they have been since Sunday
night. The sportsmen succeeded in
killing four deer and report that they
saw many, but could not get in shoot
ing distance of them. Those in the
party were H. F. dußignon, W. H.
Wood, P. M. Golden, Malcolm McKin
non. R. L. Bunkley.

of satisfying the indebtedness of the

ceeding.

The schooner Augustus H. Babcock,
which arrived in.port yesterday afte •-
noon from Salem, Mass., is said to be
one of the largest three-masters afloat.
While only a small number of ves
sels have arrived in port so far tms
month, it is expected that several
good-sized fleets will come in later
and the monthly report will he up to
the usual.
