A SCENE IN “HER OWN WAY.”
Her Own Way.
Clyde Fitch’s play, “Her Own Way,’’
with Miss Sylvia Lyndon in the lead
ing role, will be the attraction at
the Grand this evening, and no doubt
will be greeted by a large house, at
tHo attraction, judging from press n>-
‘ices, Is one of the best that will be
; ecu here this season. The Richmond
Times-Dltpateh, of October con v
tains the following about the show:
"Cj'lde Fitch’s clever piny. Her
Own Way,' was given quite a good
production at the Academy last night,
and after the first act, which was a
Ml tie tedious, the attention of tne
audience was held until the final
scene, a scene, by the way, which is
thoroughly suggestive of the methods
*>f this well known American pin.
Wright.
“Miss Sylvia l.yndcn, who appeare i
in the roie of Georgiana Carley, was
most convincing in the part, and one
need think no less of her impersona
tion because Maxine Elliott mail:
some of the scenes more delightful'.'
ingenuous. Miss Elliott, in the
lighter moments of the play, is in
comparable; but Miss I.ynden, in
depth of feeling, and in giving e<-
pression to the more serious side ot
the character, is all that could be de
sired. Of course, it Is granted that
[ perhaps no actress on either side o:
1 ‘be water can hug a sofa pillow co
I better advantage than Afiss Elliott, or
give a more adequate portrayal of >b ‘
emotions caused by delighted expect
ancy. Hut Miss Lyndon certain y
would have disappointed any one wm
believed that only one woman com i
play the role.
"The cast was entirely acceptable
throughout, and the result was n
smooth, even performance.”
