Say n good word for Brunswick. it
costs nothing and may bring good re

Hourut, Hughes and Hell ull seem
to have turned loose Jn New York at
the same time.
Everybody goes on a strike but the

The Kentucky editors ari to have a

Unistod an l Neff ought to get to

How Very Easy It Was to Pool em
That speech of Col. Goodyear at
the City Hall Monday night did not
sound very much like the sentiments
of a “straddler."
That Atlanta capiain who suicldeu
on the eve of his wo Uliug day added
a great endorsement to tne mistaken
Idea that marriage is a failure.
A Ixmdon magazine has apologized
to Dick Croker for defaming the lat
ter s character. Gee whiz! that roas.
must have been a warm member.
In the death of tho He' 1 Sam T.
Jones, tho noted Georgia evangelist,
the cause of Christianity his suffered
an irreparable loss, ami one that win
he felt for scores of years.
There is oue thing we don't have

accidents. Maybe the very thought

Senator idurton says he is ready to
go to the penitentiary. Old maa
Kawlings says he is ready tc die, but
shrewd lawyers and defective laws
have cheated the gallows for years.
The startling news has Just been
received that a negro was lynched in
Rosebud, Texas, for shoving a white
man off the sidewalk. Well, the as
tonishing item is Hint Rosebud should
have a sidewalk.
There is one thing to a certainty,
no matter who is elected governor ot
New York, he will no doubt possess
about as much virtue and decency as
those whom he will govern.
Miss Paine, who is a candidate for
Congress from Texas, says the first
thing she will do when she visits
Washington Is to probe the trusts.
She will probably storm the milli
nery and fall bat trust first.

oompany an issue in the impending
municipal campaign in Brunswick.
Indeed if we had our way in the mat
ter we would have that company so
well ingratiated in the estetm and ai
teotion of the people of this city that
the question of its becoming an issue
would he an utter impossibility. In
fact The News has never made the
charge that *t was an issue in this
contest, it lias seen fit to censure
the present city administration fo
ils conduct in the matter of not keep
ing faith with the A.. I! &. A. people
icgarding the ground upon which it is
building its termina’s. and we re
iterate these charges and again tnaU?
the statement that the company has
not received the proper t-oatment a'
the hands of the constituted authori
ties of this city, it is not necessary
to go all over this matter again, for
we are persuaded that the reading
public of Brunswick is pretiy well ae
qualnted with the fact that the A., ti.
& A. entered into a contract with the
city to secure certain property to>-
Improvements at a cost of $5,000,
and when it fame to the matter of
paying over the money and receiving
the deeds to the property, the sum oi
$33,000 was demanded for the same
We do not call this a lai. deal, and
we think it is a reflection or the very
integrity and solemn obligation of the
city of Bruns vick. It is child’s play
for our • friends who take Issue wltu
us on this subject to tell ic that the
‘ finishing touches to this I ill were
supplied by Vice-President Ark
wright of the A., B. & A " for the
tacts are that Mr. Arxwrlgnt was be
tween the devil and the deep hint
sea. and it was either a matter of
accepting the bill tendered him by
the representative from Glvnn county
and the solicitor of the city court or
Brunswick, or else let the entire mat
ter go by, which of course meant a
delay of at least twelve months in
the legislature, even granting the city
of Brunswick the legal right to trans
tor the property. That’s all there is
lo the matter so far as The News is
aware, and It 1?, only another of the
reasons we have for failing to en
dorse the present city council or
Brunswick.
In tho meantime the nominal or
gan of the solicitor of the city court
is working over time to explain these
tacts, others are at the same thing,
but thus far none of them have been
able to find an explanation that really
explains.
CITIZENS SHOULD REGISTER.
As the time draws near for the
closing of the registration books for
the coming for the municipal
primary it may not be amiss to call
the attention of the people of this
city to Hie necessity of registering
with the city clerk. As is well
known registration Is necossary Be
fore one can participate in the whltj
primary, though all taxes be paid and
every other requirement he met.
Every qualified voter of the city of
liruuswiek should he deeply imbued
with the Idea of promoting the pro
%
press and prosperity of Brunswick,
and in order to do this he should be
in position to cast his vote for those
candidates for office, who will come
more nearly to meeting the conditions.
Go down to (ho city hall and register
at onec in order tnat you might have
the chance of voting in tho coming
election for mayor and aldcman.
Under the recent act of the legis
lature the Australian ballot system
will be in vogue In the approaching
election, which protects tne voter from
the attacks of the ward healer ana
gives him that privacy to which he
is entitled, when he goes to the polls.
Citizens should register, it matters
not how they intend to vote. Its a
duty they owe to the community and
tney should not fall in ft.
It is stated that John L. Sullivan is
going into politics. Weil, even Joan
L. could not materially injure those
with whom we have to contend these
days.
