Council Meets Tonight.
City council will meet again to
night and discuss the matter v.hfcl;
has caused so many lengthy cham

that the matter will be settled to
night and bandied in open council.
Cold Wave Arrives.
The predicted cold wave, two or
three days overdue, arrived yester
day, and there was a big drop In t.h c
rnocury. It turned colder at an early
hour today and accoring to the
weather man it will continue cold for
two or three days.
Small Blaze Yesterday.
The fire department was ’called
oit yesterday about noon by an
alarm from box 42. A <j,uiek run was
made to the ecene and the blaze
was discovered In a two-story frame
residence at the corner of George and
Cordon streets, occupied tby negroes
and owned by W. M. Tupper. The
damage was small.
Large Crowd Going.
A large number of Brunswlcl

cial train over the Atlanta, Bir
mingham and Atlantic railroad, with
a sleeper attached, will take the

A LARGE HOUSE
BURNED TO GROUND

ED LAST NIGHT.
The fire department was called out
again at an early hour this morning
by an alarm sounded frcm box 23.
The blaze was discovered in the
large two-story frame dwelling in th c
tenderloin diet! itt at 214 South Gor
don street. The flames had gained
good headway before the arrival in
department, and with a strong wind
blowing, which /fanned the flames to
all sections of/the house, it was im
possible to ''filjhck them.
It is undeVßtood that the house was
occupied by three or four women un
til a few days ago. Just how man',
of them were there at the time <>
the lire is not known.
The house was owned by J v,.
Wallace and was probably insured.
Practically all of th’e household good*
were destroyed.

LITTLE BOY PASSES AWAY.
James Parker Talt Died Sunday-
Night After Long Illness.
Little James Parker Tait, eldest
son of; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Tait, died
Sunday night at 2 o’clock after an
of several years with spinal
troußle. The funeral occurred yes
terday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Rev-
F. D. Thomas officiating. The Pres
byterian choir sang the hymns
Asleep in Jeaus and Safe in the Arms
of Jesus very sweetly. The choir
was composed cf Miss Lucile Butts,
Mrs. Mary Stacy, Messrs. R. E. Sher
man, T. J. Wright and G. H. Cook.
The interment was at Oak Grove
cemetery.
The parents have the sympathy of
hosts of friends in their sorrow

democratic candidate for governor. ;
The nine counties still out are smail
ones and probably will have little
effect on Hoch's plurality.
