Jewell Kelley, a romantic actor,
leads the company, which bears his
name. The company is under the
exclusive direction of Messrs. Klaw
and Eclanger, the great syndicate of
New York City, who own and con
trol all the leading theatres and at
tractions of the United States. Tito
company, headed by Mr. Kelley, is
in its fifth year of prosperity and
has played to capacity audiences in
all the principal cities of the coun
try. The company is said to be as
pretentious as (he dollar and a dol
lar and a half attractions playing
the cities. A car load of scenery,
electrical and mechanical effects,
bric-a-brac, rugs, paints, furniture,
. curtains, etc., etc., are carried. The
engagement has beep limited to two
nights and a special matinee, com

The Atlanta, Birmingham and At
lantic railroad is now having some
trouble In Atlanta, the resiul,t of
which will be closfply watched thy
the people of ibis city. Several com
plaints have ibeon entered against
the road by Atlanta people, who
claim that the work of building the
lines has blocked certain ,stroots.
Now Alderman Key says the road
is building into Atlanta without au
thority. The following special sent
out on the subject will be o f Inter
est:
"A tempest, in municipal affairs is
being stirred up by the declaration
of Councilman Key, chairman of the
streets committee, that, the Atlanta,
Birmingham pud Atlantic railroad,
which Is bill! ng its way into the
city, is acting without authority of
council In obstructing streets and
opening yards. The road has been
met with a storm of pro tost from
citizens whose property has been
Condemned and many streets have
boon closed rwnnanently. Mayor
Woodward anh Councilman Key are
engaged in a wa rm controversy over
the matter.”
