ALAMO, GEORGIA. FRIDAY, AUGUST 29, 1913
Mr. S. J. Elliott of Mt. Vernon, has
been awarded the contract to bore the
artesian well for Alamo, and prepar
ations are made to begin aetual work
on next Monday morning. Mr. S. A.
Lee, who Was selected to look after
this feature of the well, got busy at
onee and had bids from several contrac
tors and found that they were all prac
tically the same price. One of them
Mr. Holder of this county made a bid
and the contract would have been
awarded him had he been in a position
to have done the work at once, but he
had just begun a well and it would have
been sometime before ho could have
gotten to us and Mr. Lee thought it
advisable to award the the work to
another man as the price was the seme.
Mr. Elliott offers to take the job at
one dollar per foot, and dig until he is
authorized to cease. The casing csn be
had at 27 cents per foot, asking it
cost $1.27 per foot for as many feet as
are dug. It is thought that 500 feet will
get good water, and at the rate of $1 27
per foot would only cost the town $635.
The site for the well is an ideal one,
being directly in the center of the town.
The location seems to be entirely satis
factory to all, as the town will lay
mains through the main streets and
thereby serve the people alike. The
well is one of our greatest needs and is
a step toward greater improvements
for the town. Some are of the opinion
that they will not abandon their surface
wells, bnt when they haye realized the
many advantages in a pure and health
ful artesian well they will be more in
clined to abandon them.
GONE HOME
Mrs. Daisy Tomlinson (nee) Mosley
the subject of this sketch, was born
Oct. 31st, 1883 and was happily mar
ried to J. P. Tomlinson July the 4th,
1909, and departed from this life Aug
ust 7th. 1913. To this tmion was born
two children, a girl now about three
years old and a boy about one year old
As a child she was obedient. As a
girl in the home and in school she was
loving, considerate and industrious, an
ticipating every wish of her parents,
brothers and sisters. As a young wo
man in society she conducted herself
with such lady-like deportment that it
made her a favorite with everybody and
as a Christian she was faithful and
true. As a friend and neighbor, she
was kind and obliging. As a wife, she
was loving and helpful; being filled
with a spirit of fidelity that made her
give the best efforts of her hfa to the
best interest of her husband, and care
of her children As a mother, she was
devoted, having a burning desire for
the proper training, education and re
ligous developement of her children.
While sick her children wer hsr chief
concern and when sha came down to
the borders of deliriam, and when rea
son seemed to have almost forsaken
her she would cry out and say “carry
my children to church”.
She had gone on a visit to her pa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Moseley, of
near Uvalda, to spend the 4th of July,
sha being there only a few days before
she was stricken with typhoid fever,
and for three weeks physicians, family
friends and a trained nurse did all they
could to nurse her back to health and
the arms of her loved ones, but the
Lord said “it is enough, come up high
er”.
She leaves a father, mother, four
brothers, five sisters and a host of
friends to mourn her departure; but we
do not mourn without hope, for she
said “I am alright, 1 have no fear”.
Weep not dear ones, though her
hands lie scross a pulseless bosom, her
lips hushed and her eyes forever closed
to the besuties of this world, yet she
is not dead.
The sama principles that made her an
obedient child, a dutiful girl, a kind
friend, a devoted Christian, a helpful
wife and a loving mother, still lives,
and will live forever.
She was lain to rest in tha Mosley
cemetery in the presence of a large
number of friends and loved ones.

Don't You Read This Unless
You are in Need of building Material.
But if you are in need of Building
Material of any kind, do not fail to
read it, for it will save you money.
Write us or call on us and we will tell you how.
Although we have sold a good bit of building material
lately, we still have some left and are making more every
day. Not this sorry, cheap, knotty kind, but good ma
terial that you will not be ashamed of, and something
that your workmen can make a good job out of when he
uses it. No workman, no matter how good he may be,
can make a good job unless he has good materia'.
We have just received a shipment of shingles and
laths and can sell cheap.
Do not forget that we still have
lime, cement, plaster, brick, etc., in
stock. Write us for prices. It is al
ways a pleasure to make estimates
on anything, no matter how small
the bill.
