SI.OO Per Year in Advance.
Alamo is in the market for your cot
ton and if good prices, the highest that
ean be paid, will be an inducement, she
will get it. Each buyer, and we expect
to have many, will be furnished with
the reports regularly and will at all
times be able to pay all that can be
paid. Our merchants have the goods
to sell you and the town offers induce
ments that will be to the advantage of
a largo scope of country to market this
year's cotton crop here. We have two
good banks that will appreciate your
business and our merchants will appre
ciate your trade. In this issue we carry
an index of the enterprising merchants
of our town. They are public spirited
and believe in pushing their busines and
for the reason alone of their effort
to induce you to make it to your ad
vantage to market with us, should have
an unusual amount of your patronage.
We also have two good ginneries, as
£ood as you will find anywhere. Alamo
has anything that you need in the way
of taking care of your wants. We
have a good county, good crops and if
the seasons continue aS they have been,
the crops will all be gathered and the
county in the finest shape yet dreamed
of.
Monday closed the last chapter in the
Frank-Phagan trial, which has been in
progress in Atlanta for the past twen
ty-nine days. Frank was found guilty
of the most diabolical murder ever per
petrated in Georgia, and ths trial was
the most widely advertised ever held
in the state. The best legal talent that
Georgia can produce locked horns over
the case and the verdict rendered by
the twelve men selected to sit in the
case should be approved. Every spark
of evidence on both sides was anyalized
and these men had plenty of time to
weigh it thoroughly and if justice has
not been done, it would seem to us that
time and talent availeth nothing. A
new trial has been asked for and will
be granted and in all probability the
case will be worn out in the courts and
Frank set free.
October 10th is the date set by Judge
Roan for the execution of Frank, but
a fight for new trial will stay the ex
ecution for a long time, Frank pro
tests his innocence. Hearing for new
trial to be heard on October 4th.
An All Day Singing.
There will be an all-dav singing at
the Methodist church at this place Sun
day, August 31st. The Wheeler Coun.
ty Singing Convention will reoiganize
on that date. Everybody come pre
pared to spend the day.

Short Session
Superior Court.
In a letter to the sheriff this week,
Judge Graham requested him to have
all of the prisoners in jail on hand and
that their cases would only be tried at
this session of court, that it would be
adjourned until some future date. The
court room is very small, especially so
at this season of the year, and it is for
this reason, it is thought, that the
Judge has decided to only try those
who are confined in jail. The prisoners
have been kept in jail at Mt. Vernon
and there are only one to be
tried at this session. The court calen
dar appears in thia issue, which presents
quite a lot of business, but will have to
go over until later.
