The many friends of Mr. H.
L. Brett were glad to see him
out again after a long siege of
fever.
Everybody invited to attend
the musical next door to Bank of
Alamo tomorrow night at 7:30.
Mr. J. A. Hinson shipped a
car load of fine beef cattle from
this place one day this week.
Mrs. J. M. Ashley has returned
to her home in Douglas, after a
few days stay with relatives and
friends in Alamo.
Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Graham
of Mcßae, spent Sunday here
the guests of the latter’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McMillan.
Rev. J. E. Summer filled bis
regular appointment at the
Methodist church here last Sat

Mrs. Mazie Brett has recov
ered sufficiently from a recent
attack of fever to be taken out

We are sorry to learn that the
mother of Mr. J. D. Dixon of
this place, is very low and al
most at the point of death. Mr.
Dixon is with her at her home
near Dublin,
In some parts of the state
farmers are hindered from pre
paring their lands for the pres
ent crops, by the extreme rainy
weather, while in this section
the lands are too dry for culti
vation.
Tax Collector Martin is busy
this week issuing tax executions.
He will have a bunch of them,
but those who come to the office i
and pay before they are given i
over to the officers will be re
lieved of extra cost.

in each month, provided his

winter in Alamo. They are boarding
with Mr. and Mrs, W. J. Sumner on

Mr. Morris Vaughndoff of Savannah,
is the guest of relatives in Alamo this

Misses Edelle and Amye Browning
visited in Glenwood this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Eason Pope of Scot
land, visiled relatives in town this
week.
Mrs. Lula Purvis returned Wednes
day afternoon from Pelham, where she
spent several days with relatives.
Mr. 0. Lamar Lancaster, after
spending several days with his brother
hers, returned to his home In Hawkins
ville Tuesday.
Mr. R. D. Powell is back on the job
this week, buying cotton,

called to meet here Wednesday to hear
the contention in the Dempsey school
case, but as some of the interested
parties were absent, it was decided to
