We just learned of the burnir g
of the residence of Mrs. Jack
Sears near Shiloh this afternoon.
No insurance, total loss of about
$4000.00.
Reports from the bedside of
Mrs. J. N. Sears at her home
in Laurns County, mother of
Sheriff H.N. Sears of this place,
reported last week as being
seriously ill, are that her condit
ion remains quite serious and no
hopes are held out for her re
covery.

port shows there were 5,570 bales
of cotton, counting round as
half bales, ginned in Wheeler
county from the crop of 1931
.prior to November Ist, as com
pared with 6,505 bales ginned to
November Ist. 1930.

McCumbers are glad to learn of
his recovery from an operation
for appendicitis.
Lumber City Poultry Car.
There will be a poultry sale
conducted at Lumber City on
Thursday November 19th. Prices

Car will be at Lumber City as
early Thursday morning as pos
sible to get it moved there from
Hazlehurst.

Mrs. W. IL Kent and small
sons visited in Tarrytown and
Vidalia la-1 Thursday. She was
accompar ied home by Miss Helen
Mixon,who spent several days
with Fer, returning to Tarry
town Sunday.

School and preaching service at
both the Methodist and Baptist
Churches. Sunday School at 10:
30 o’clock and preaching service
at 11:30. Rev. A. B. Wall will
preach hi, last sermon of this
onference year Sunday at 11:30,

Glenwood Wilsonian Program,
Toe Wilsonian Literary Society
had charge of the program for!
the last meeting, which was last
Friday afternoon.
The program was carried out

The P. and H. Club Meets.
The P. ami H. Club met last Sat
urday night nt a club member’s home
for the purpose of distinguishing the
i’s. from the Ils.
Only five members of the club were
present. Teey will receive their dis
tinction at tte next meeting, if not
sooner.
After receiving their identification,
ti e Ps. were served one pice of home
made candy, the Hs. two picees, and
HHs. four by Mrs- HH.
The meeting was drawn to a close
by pledges from all members, of their
allegience to the club in its future
endeavors to meet again some time in
the immediate future.
Georgia leads all states in the
production of turpentine and
rosin, with Florida second.

cf sale contained in a deed to secure
debt executed and delivered by Wil
lie E. Kemp to the Empire Loan and
Trust Company on the 6th day of Oc
tober, 1319, and recorded in the of
fice of the Clerk of the Superior
Court of Wheeler County, Georgia,
in deed book 4, page 555-6 on the

dcsigned will sell at public outcry
at the court house door in said coun
ty of Wheeler, between the legal
hours of sale, namely 10 a. m. and
4 p. m., to the highest and best bid
der for cash, on the Bth, day of De
cember, 1931, the following described
property, to-wit:
The whole of lot of land number
two mindred and fifty-seven (257)
in the tenth (10th) land district of
Wheeler County, Georgia, containing
two hundred and two and one half
(202 1-2) acres, more or less.
For the purpose of paying a cer
tain promissory note for the sum of
Thirty Two Hundred ($3,200.00)
Dollars executed and delivered by
the said Willie E. Kemp to the Em
pire Loan & Trust Company on the
6th day of October, 1919, and .due
November Ist, 1924, stipulating for
interest from the date of said note
to maturity at the rate of six and
one half per cent (6 1-2%) per an
num, payable annually, and ten per
cent (10%) attorney fees, said in
terost oeing represented by interest
notes, which have been paid, and on
maturity of said principal R. L.
Kinchen & Company claimed to own
the equity in said property, and ex
ecuted extension agreement and ex
tension interest notes, agreeing to
pay the interest on said loan from
November Ist, 1924, to November
Ist, 1929, end until paid at the rats
of six and one half per cent (6%%)
per annum payable annually; one of
said interest notes being payable on
November Ist, 1925, 1926, 1927,
1928, and 1929, respectively. Said
interest notes bear interest from
due date until paid at the rate of
eight per cent (8%) per annum un
til paid. The undersigned, according,
to the terms and conditions of th r
< apers in connection with the loan,
did on May 30th, 1931, advance
Sixty-Seven & 62-100 ($67.62) Dol
lars ns insurance premium, which
amount has not been repaid. Said
advancement of insurance premium
bears interest from date of advance
ment at the rate of eight per ceni
per annum until paid. Said princi
pal note of Thirty Two Hundred
<53,200.00) Dollars, which became
due November Ist, 1929, together
with interest from due date at the
rate of six and one-half- per cen*
(6H%) per annum, less One Hun
dred Twenty-Five ($125.00) Dollars
paid September 7th, 1931, and said
advancement of insurance pre
mium of Sixty-Seven & 62-100
($67,621 Dollars, with interest from
date of advancement at the rate of

paid, remain unpaid, and the s^id
Willie E. Kemp and the said R. L.
Kinchen & Company fail and refuse
to pay the same on demand, and the
same are now due and unpaid.
Said deed to secure debt made by
the said Willie E. Kemp to the said
Empire Loan & Trust Company here
inbefore mentioned contains a power
of sale which provides that said Wil
lie E. Kemp covenants and agrees
that in case of default* in payment
of the debt above mentioned when
due or in case of default in any of
the conditions named in the bond to
reconvev, said Empire Loan & Trust
Company, or the person to whom said
power is assigned and delegated,
may sell the property, including the
right, title and interest therein of
the said Willie E. Kemp, his heirs
and assigns, at auction at the court
house door in the county in which
the land lies, to the Highest bidder
for ea»b, first giving four weeks’

Clay ton McDuffie, cousin and a J

man, is under arrest and is in 1
jail at Mcßae, charged with the J
cutting.
The two men, cousins, married .
sisters. Officers said there bad ■
been ill feeling between them for
some time. Both were alleged to
have been drinking yesterday,
when an argument at the Milan
election booth led to the stabbing
For the 55th time since 1920,
James McGraw of Long Branch,
N J., recently went to jail on a
disorderly conduct charge. -
