MRS. LINDSEY
ANDERSON PASSES
The entire community was
saddened to learn of the death
of Mrs. Lindsey Anderson, which
occurred at her home several
miles north Alamo last Tuesday
afternoon at four o’clock. Mrs.
Anderson had been in declining
health for some time, but her
condition was not considered o
serious by her family, and the
passed away very suddenly.
Mrs. Anderson was the daugh
ter of the late Jake Hill and Mrs.
Hill, one of the most prominent
families of this community. She
was a very industrious and home
loving lady and will be missed
by all.
She is survived by her husband,
five daughters, Mrs. I. A. Hoobs,
of Losverges, Nevada; Mrs. J. B.
Chase, New York City; Mrs.
Meena Sears, Misses Oleta ano
Doris Anderson; two sons, Eschol
and Guy Anderson; four sisters,
jrfrs. Jno. C. Ailliams Soperton;
Wrs. Miller Sears, Alamo; Mrs.
J. P. Tomilson, Adel; Mrs. I. F.
Purvis, Alamo; three brothers,
B H. Hill, Alamo; Geo. Y. Hill,
Adrian; H. J. Hill, Dublin.
Funeral services were con
ducted from the Cedar Grove
Methodist church Wednesday
afternoon at four o’clock by Rev.
M. W. Flanders, pastor of the
Alamo Methodis church, and
interment was in the church
cemetery.
Pall bearers were: Harvey
Gilder, W. H. Gilder, Sr„ J. W.
White, Early Ward, Sammie
Brown and Harry Hill.

To the Voters of Wheeler county:
I had hoped to carry on my
work and then see many of you
people before the election, but
since I have been sick and con
fined to my room the entire week.
I know I shall not be able to see
you. I have thoroughly enjoyed
meeting and talking to you par
ents and am so sorrow that I am
deprived of the privilege of see
ing the rest of you people.
I wish to express to you my
thanks for your cooperation with
the school program and promise
if lam elected to continue to
serve you to the best of my
— ability.
Remember that I shall appre
ciate your vote and influence to
enable me to be your County
School Superintendent for a full
term of office even though I have
not been able to see and talk to
each of you.

MRS. JANE HAMMONS
PASSES LAST WEEK
Mrs. Jane Pope Hammock, 77,
one of the most beloved ladies of
the county, died Thursday of
last week at the home of Mr. Ben
H. Hill, a lew miles south of
Alamo, afu r a short illness. She
was a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Pepe, of Mont
gomery county. She is sui vived
oy four brothers. C. A. Pope, of
Fort Mead, Florida; G. M. and
John T. and Henry Pope, of near
Glenwood and other relatives and
a host of friends.
Funeral services were held
Saturday from the Landsburg
Methodist church conducted by
Rev. A. W. Quillian, and inter
ment was in the church ceme
tery.
The pall bearers were: John F.
McDaniel, Morris Bridges, Astor
Clark, Otis Couey, Carlton and
Willard Johnson.

HOLDS MEETING
The Alamo P. T. A., met Feb
ruary 6, with a large number
present. After delightful re
freshments were served by the
Home Economics girls Mrs.
Currie, the president, called a
short business meeting.
The fifth grade is leading in
the race for a dollar which was
offered by the P. T. A. for get
ting the most members. The
third grade won a dollar for
having the most members pn»
sent.
Mr. Pulliam introduced Sup
erintendent B A. Lancaster, of
the Vidalia High school, who
gave a very interesting talk on
“Some Needs for Georgia
Schools.’’

The registrars, C. C. Hartley,
0. .1. Hinson and A. J. Grimes,
have completed the voters list to
be used in the primary on next
Wednesday. A total of 1,754
voters comprise the completed
list, which showes much interest
in the coming primary.
To become a qualified voter
only poll tax were necessary
to be paid, only goes to show that
a keen interest is manifested.

TWO NEGROES KILLED
IN M’RAE TODAY
News just reached here of the
damage done to the negro school
dormitory in Mcßae this morn
ing by the severe wind which
visited this section about twelve
r’clock today. It is reported that
the building was literally torn
to pieces and scattered over a
large aera, but no one appears to
have been injured on the inside
of the building, but workers
nearby who were seeking shelter
underneath the building were
instantly killed. Just how many
w|re killed and injured is not
known, but the report is that
two colored men were found
dead when the debries were
cleared away.

Mr. Charlie Hinson, of Hazle
hurst, was a visitor here Wed
nesday. He has been appointed
guano inspector for Wheeler
county and Mr. Hinson staled
that when in need of him just
drop him a card and he will be
forthcoming.

Appeals to The People
To the voters of Wheeler county:
As you already know that I
am a candidate for Ordinary,
election to be held on the 19th
day of February, 1936.
On account of weather con
ditions and condition of the roads
il is going to be impossible for
me to get around and seethe
people, and further the duties of
the office has to be performed
during acampaign as well as any
other time.
However, if the weather gets
better, and the roads get in
shape that I can get over them,
I will see just as many of you as
I can in the short time that we
have between now and election
day, any that I fail to see lam
asking for their support just the
same, wish that I could see and
talk with every one of you.
I want to thank the people of
Wheeler County for their sup
; port in the past, I have served
them as best I could, and if ele
, cted I promise to perform the
duties to the best of my ability,
in the future giving them just
. such service as they are entitled
to as their Ordinary,
