US PEOPLE
By G. C. Barnhill
If there was ever a time when
two Thanksgiving Days were in
order, seems to be this good
year nineteen hundred forty. To
be in a land of peace, as we
listen, and read of the other parts
of the world. Such anxiety, the
horrible tales of misery, such
destruction, terror, agony of
soui, mortal pain, disasters on
the high seas, so many homeless,
broken families, orphaned child
ren, b -art sick companions, so
many hungry, such hatred, the
many in the battle lines who do
not want to be there, and death.
Surely we are thankful for our
country, our Hag, our good gov
ernment, and the guiding hand
of a good God that has brought
us thus far.
