New H-C gives me
Double-Range Anti-Knock
"I get Double-Range Anti-Knock.” That’s what motorists are
saying about the new H-C Gasoline. The two speedometers
above indicate the two important speed ranges where knock
less power is needed. Some gasolines give high anti-knock in
one driving range but not in the other. However, the new
Double-Range H-C gives you high anti-knock in both. Try a
tankful of the new Double-Range H-C today. It sells at
regular price.

Training For Defense
By Rufus T. Strohm
Dean, International
Correspondence Schools
THS Is the 50th anniversary of
the International Correspond
ence Schools. For half a century
the institution
has been co
operating with
the management
of industrial
concerns and pri
vate individuals
in training and
instruction. At
present we have
Rufus T. Strohm approximately
with American firms that are using
I.C.S. service as the nucleus of train
ing programs.
Ralph E. Weeks, president, has
said:
"The International Correspond
ence Schools aim to give more edu
cational service in exchange for the
fees received than any other edu
cational institution, whether pub
licly or privately owned, provides
for a like amount.”
The urgent need of a single In
dustry (coal mining) brought the
schools at Scranton, Pa., into being
in 1891; the expanding needs of
many Industries have tremendously
enlarged the spread of its useful
ness. At first, there was only the
School of Mines; today, there are
26 different schools, each one staffed
by a corps of highly competent
instructors.
When the first student was en
rolled, he had no choice of courses,
because only one was offered; eight
years later there were 50 established
courses of instruction. There are
now approximately 400 courses, pro
viding facilities for training in a
wide range of technical and engi
neering subjects, and in almost
every field of commercial endeavor.
More than 4,520,000 students have
been enrolled since the schools were
founded. At present there are more
than 95,000 students on the active
list.
