A RESOLUTION ON
MRO. G. DIXON
On Tuesday afternoon, May 5,
1942, as the day was closing
quietly and peacefully the spirit
of Mrs. Ben G. Dixon, winged its
flight from earth to God whence
it came.
The entire town and community
was saddened to learn of the
sudden passing of Mrs. Dixon.
In her passing we are keenly
conscious that we have sustained
a great loss. Those who knew
her best loved her most. The
tears of her host of friends
mingled with those of her loved
ones as they gathered to pay the
last tribute to her memory.
■‘She is not dead butaleaveth.”
“Dust thou art to dust retumetb,
was not spoken of the soul.”
She lived her life so helpfully,
so kindly and so sympathetically,
that it seemed to say, “I pass
this way but once, if there is any
good that I can do for my fellow
beings, let me do it now.
Her stay on earth was sixty
five years. In her passing she
leaves her husband and two
daughters, Mrs. Rosa Terry and
Mrs. Grace Adams, of Jackson
ville, Florida, and many other
relatives to mourn her loss.
The funeral was conducted at
tho Glenwood Baptst Church
with her pislor, Rev C. E. Vine,
officiating. Interment was in
Bethel cemetery.
Inasmuch as Mrs. Dixon was a
faithful and loyal member of
Glenwood Baptist Church and
Sunday School and'that she was
a regular attendant and willing
worker in the service of God, Be
it resolved;
First —That we express our
deepest sympathy to the bereav
ed husband and daughters and
pray God’s richest blessings on
them.
Second —That a copy of these
reso utions bu spread on the
minutes of the Glenwood Baptist
Church. That a copy be sent to
the Christian Index and a copy
be sent the Whieler County
Eagle.
Respectfully submitted
Mrs. A. J. Grimes
Mrs. H. W. Rivers
Mrs. D. L. Stone

Something For Us to Talk
About
Here in Wheeler county we
have something to be proud of,
we are setting on the top of the
world now. In the morning the
shade is on this side of town and
they are argueing politics. In the
afternoon the shade is on the
other side of town, and by this
time the chief of police is down
j fining the boys, the talk is:
Who is the next to go to the army.
We have Gene Talmadge and
what be has done as governor of
this great state. Then Ellis
Arnall and what he will do when
he gets to be the next governor.
On top of this all there are three
for congress, Hugh Peterson,
the present incumbent, who
consented to let Albert Cobb
get in the race, and Clarence D.
Pedersen, who hasn’t yet made
his formal announcement and
there is our own Wallace Adan s
who is again going to bat without
having to “kiss the old maids
and babies” fortheir vote.
Now that’s something to talk
about, maybe we can keep from
talking about our neighbors and
set up and take notice while the
political “fur flies.”

BOARD STATES ITS
POLICY IN EAGLE
Working as rapidly as possible
o 1 applications for supplemental
gasoline, the local rationing
board has discovered that son e
pei sons not allowed an additior al
supply under the rules have tihd
applications. After studying the
the new rules the board this
week issued a statement reiter
ating S that the rules aie veiy
strict, decidedly more so than
those governing the temporal y
gas rationing plan.
I’lie board realizes that these
regulations are going to cause
them to be crilized by anyone
applying for a gasoline rationing
which this board cannot grant
under the regulations. This
board wishes to state that should
at any time an applicant feels
that the board has been to serve
in the amountof gasoline award
ed, they gladly invite such an
applicant to appeal his case to
thw slate rationing officer of the
OI A in Atlanta. Only in this way
can there be a uniformity of
opinion oy all boards. This board
wants to be very fair in their in
terpretation of the rules and
regulations, and they are parti
cularly ambitious to see to it that
persons in this county receive
the same amount of rationing as
anyone else in the ralioning area
when the cases involved are identi
cal or at least similar.
This board is making eveiy
effort to advise the people of this
section what they might expect
should they require additional
gasoline for occupational travel.
Local boards do not make the
rules, they merely endeavor to
see to it that the rules and regu»
lations are complied with. If you
feel the regulations are unfair
and affect you adversely—worn
an unreasonable hardshipin your
occupation, then you should take
the matter up with the State
Rationing Office in Atlanta, or
through some other source in
Washington, because a local
board is without authority to
change the regulations to meet
your requirements.”
