A FAKE DICTATOR
Ellis Arnall will be elected Gover
nor of Georgia this year. He should
be elected, because he is able, fear
less, competent and honest. His
opponent should be defeated because
he has made a bad governor.
For that reason it is annoying to
hear some of Mr. Arnall’s supporters
refer to Mr. Talmadge as a dictator.
A dictator is a bad man, but a dic
tator also is a big man.
It doubtless will wound Mr. Tal
madge’s feeling of self-importance,
but he bears no resemblance to Nero
or Napoleon, Caesar or Hitler. He
enjoys being told that he does, just
like any spoiled brat enjoys being
told that the Bad Man gill get him
it he doesn’t mend his ways. Bui
he is not a dictator except in the
way that a spoiled brat is a dictator
in the home, and if Mama Georgia
would spank him and send him oft
to play with something less valuable
und breakable than the machinery
o1 government it would serve him
light,
You remember when ““Little Gene”
got peeved because President Roose
velt did not pay him enough attentio™
and started calling the President
names, for all the world like =a
nasty-minded little boy that gets
mad with teacher and writes dirty
words on the side of the fence.
Or recall when some of the public
officials would not do just as he
wished, because his wishes were il
legal, and he flew into a tantrum
and called his nurse to run them |
out of his Capitol and even broke
open the safe in the office because
he couldn’t wait to have it opened
in the regular way.
Or take the case of the University
System, whieh he thought of as a
personal toy. It didn’t run to suit
him, so he threw it down on the
sidewalk, stamped on it and then
nearly had hysterics because 1t
wouldn’t run any more.
Georgians do not need to be
scared of “Little Gene.” He is no
dictator; he is just a spoiled boy
dressed up in man's clothes with
some red suspenders, playing at be
ing a dictator. But it is imperative
to get rid of him as Governor, be
cause this is no time to be led by a
naughty child that screams and
sticks out his tongue and disgraces
us in front of the neighbors.—Vida

The President of the United States,
as usual, is right when he tells us that
now is the time to pay up and get out of
debt.
In some instances, however, itcan
benefit to make a reasonabledebt. [t
might even help one o get out of debt.
Farmers who have the feed and not
sufficient cattle and hogs, might profit
by incurring some debt to acquire cattle
and hogs for re-sale.
By paying cash, considerable savings
are sometimes available.
Other similar circumstances mfiy,
and frequently do, exist that would justi
fy the incurring indebtedness.
This bank desires to co-operate with
you in this saving and in making money
for yourself. It has the money to lend
when sufficiently secured. It invites you
to confer with its officers about your
needs and problems.
