Well as “Tootsie” has been absent quite a while on account of visiting 30 much, thought I would cut it out and come back to the Progress. Quite a large crowd attended Sun day school,, at Marshall Sunday. We have started a B. Y. P. U. and give everybody a cordial invitation to at tend. A large crowd from around here attended the oyster supper at Bohe- ville Friday night and reported a aplendid time. Misses Margaret Smith and Hattie Ruth Swann spent the week-end with Miss Ruby Pearl Pearson, and 1 think instead of them “spending” the week-end they spent the week end “spinning.” Prof. S. P. Shell, of Winfield, spent the week-end with Prof. II. L. Wil liamson of Callaway. Mr. W. J. Farmer, Mrs. T. B. Mar tin, Masters Cecil and Emory Farm er spent the week-end in Augusta. Miss Love Morris entertained a few of her friends with a card party Saturday night. Mr. Hubert Cook has accepted a position in Harlem, and we, all wish Mm much success. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Steed and son, from Augusta, visited Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Reese Sunday. Misses Clara, Stella, Mary and Mr. .Jim Norris spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Montgomery and fam ily. A few of our boys and girls attend- «d the dance at Cobbham Friday. Miss Cornelia Samuels is expected 4o spent the week-end in Augusta. Miss Mildred Reese spent Saturday Bight and Sunday with Miss Love Morris. Miss Stella Norris entertained a large crowd of her friends with a dance Thursday night. Mrs. W. L. Standard and family are visiting her mother, Mrs. L. G. .Reese. • Say, Brown Eyes, you used to say you had the little black Ford trained, Imt look where it goes now. You tell 'em. Wake up, Boneville, Winfield, East Thomson; you’ve been absent quite ,a while. I think its time we were coming back, its near Christmas. Sunday is preaching day so be sure (o come out and hear our new pastor. It is no idle boasting when we say during annual conference one of the most able pastors Mesena ever had was sent to another circuit. But while we regret he and his appre ciated family leave us, it makes us proud at heart to know our present one was born and reared with us. Such things as this speak well of our community. Miss Lucille Keown spent the week end at home at Rayle, Ga. Mr. Grover McCorkle of the U. S. Army, is spending several weeks at home. Mr. Marvin Hunt attended the play at Thomson Friday night. We are sorry to report the illness of the infant baby of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris. Here’s wishing you a Merry Christ mas and a Happy New Year, and so j/e bid you all adieu. WRIGHTSB0R0 By Juanita. It seems our correspondents are in clined to sleep on the job, but hope when we do appear in the lineup our writing will be reversible to sleepy to somebody. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Farr spent the -•feck-end in Washington at the home of Mrs. Farr’s mother. We are having plenty of rain and cloudy weather, but every cloud wears a rainbow if your heart keeps :right. Mrs. S. W. McCorkle and Mrs. A. I* McGahce spent Friday with Mrs J. R. Jones, of Thomson. Pineville, glad to see you in the lineup here lately, and of course glad you like to hear about us. Messrs. Horace McCorkle and Guy Jom. called to see the Misses Warr Sunday night. Our monthly Leagup social was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. McGahee Saturday night, and we *re sure every body had a nice time. League socials are so much more en joyable and nicer than dances. We were glad to have Mr. Reese and Mr. Harvey Reese visit us at the social and trust they enjoyed them selves . Cross Roads, so glad you miss us m the lineup, but when a thing hap pens so often, one has cause to do so SUNNY SIDE NEWS (From Last Week.) We are all so glad to have our same pastor, Bro. Few Railroads Earning Anything. Atlanta, Ga., Dec. 12.—Official re ports received by Atlanta railway executives show that last year only twenty-one of the 175 Class One railroads operating as separate com panies, or about 5 1-2 per cent of the railroad mileage of the country, showed a net operating income of more than 6 per cent of their block value. There were twenty-seven roads, representing 91 per cent of the mile age of the country, that earned less than 6 per cent. There were twenty-seven roads, or 4 per cent of the mileage of the coun try, that earned no not whatever. The average for all roads was about 4 per cent. Crawford regret to learn that he was called f way on Tuesday on account of the i lness of his mother, Mrs. Nettie Crawford, of Thomasville, Ga. Mr. George Walton and Miss Patsy jWalton, of Harlem, were guests of Miss Carrie Lou Walton Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Howell. Mr. Orion Marshall, of Clarks Hill, f. C., spent Friday night at the home cf his mother, Mrs. Ellora Marshall. Mrs. Lizzie Etheridge, of Augusta, pent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crowell.
