St. Cair, Ga., March 3rd, 1924.
Mr. W. H. White, President,
Star Sprayer Mfg. Co.,
Augusta, Ga.
Dear Sir:
Last year I planted 60 acres in cotton. When it
started to putting on squares found that it was infested
with Boll Weevils.
I bought enough Farmers Joy to make several hun
dred gallons poison. I made a molasses mixture and
mopped from two to four times. After this the weevils
disappeared and I was not bothered any more.
This year I intend to use Farmers Joy from the start
and do not expect to use any other kind, as Farmers Joy
is good enough for me. Yours truly,
E. T. HARRIS.

Dear Sir:
Last year I used Farmers Joy Weevil Eradicator
exclusively and found that it gave me better results
than any poison I had ever used and it is so much
cheaper.
I planted last year 27 acres in cotton and ginned 36
bales. I do not intend to use any other poison this year.
Yours truly,
L. G. SMITH.

Mr. W. H. White, President,
Star Sprayer Mfg. Co.,
Augusta, Ga.
Dear Sir:
Last year I used Farmer’s Joy Boll Weevil Poison,
also Arsenate and Molasses mixture.
I found more dead weevils where I used your poison
than I did where the Calcium Arsenic and molasses was
used.
I am frank to say that Farmer’s Joy Poison is the
best of the two and so much cheaper. I think so well of
it I expect to use a great deal more this year.
Yours truly,
Signed. J. E. NETHERLAND.

A. Rowland and Oliver were two
of the most famous in the list of
Charlemange’s twelve peers; and
their exploits are rendered so ridi

Q. Is there any w-ood, or tree,
grown that is lighter than cork?
A. Until the World War, little was
known or thought about balsa wood,
which is now valued for certain
properties—it is the lightest of all
known woods; lighter than cork—and
its manufacture and preparation for
the market have assumed propor-
tions of a commercial proposition.
The balsa is a tropical tree of Cen
tral America and Northern South
America. In appearance it some
what resembles a catalpa, tall and
straight, and has a marvelously rapid
growth. It is especially adapted in
the manufacture of buoyancy and in
sulation products, such as life rafts,
parts of life boats, and airplanes.
Balsa, in the native Indian tongue,
actually means raft. It has a pithy
wood, lighter but stronger than cork,
and is a remarkable non-conductor of
heat.
Q. What is the largest plant in

A. Jupiter is the largest, having
eleven times the diameter of the

Q. I would like to know the date
of the founding of the National So

of the American Revolution in the
same year, 1890.
New York was elected President.
His running was Richard M. Johnson
of Kentucky. The democratic elec

for him, throwing their votes to Wil
liam Smith of Alabama .thus causing
a tie vote. Johnson won, when the
contest was carried to the Senate.
There is some misapprehension
about the Hayes-Tilden election of
1876, many thinking that it was de
cided by the House of Representa
tives, but such was not the case.
There was a contest and an electoral
commission was created by Congress
to settle the question. The commis
sion reported back to the joint ses
sions of the two houses and their
findings were accepted.
Q. Was the election of President
Hayes decided by action of the House
of Representatives? In what in
stances has the House elected a Pres
ident?
A. Only twice in the history of the
Government—in 1801 and in 1825—
hasj the House of Representatives
elected the President, and once—in
1887—the Senate elected the Vice
President. The first time the House
was called to name the national ex
ecutive was when the third President,
Thomas Jefferson, was elected in
1801. The second election by the
House was that of John Quincy Ad
ams, in 1825. The one vice presiden
tial election by the Senate occurred
