OIL SCANDAL GROWS
MORE DISGUSTING
The investigation of the bribery
and corruption charged in connect¬
ion with the leasing of the United
States oil reserves continues, and
the farther it goes the worse it
seems to get.
Seuators and Cabinet members
have beeu openly charged with
having received bribes, and the
Attorney General is now under fire
for winking at the affair, and this
week the President himself was
charged with having agreed to
help whitewash the whole disgust¬
ing affair.
Washington dispatches state
that the high leaders of the Repub¬
lican party will be so badly invol¬
ved, that the effect will be the
driving of that party ..from power
in the coming election. Some pre¬
dict that the Democrats will win
out in a straight victory, and some
predict that the oil disgrace will
split the republican party, and
result in an easy democratic vic¬
tory over the divided forces.
