young and old enjoyed the splash.
The races for the boys and girls
caused much excitement. Especi*
ally the nail and hammering
for the ladies, aud the tug of-war
for the men were enjoyed. Ere
Pelham beat Camilla in the pulling,
the rope broke several times, aud
it was a hard pull until tie Camilla
men were drawn over the line.
The nail-hammering contest was
won by Mrs. R. M. Earning for
Camilla, with Mrs. Dr. Hill second.
Over one huudred jolly folks
sat down to supper, which was
thoroughly enjoyed after the
ing of the Doxology.
The casualties for the day were
the losing of Dr. Hill’s duster coat,
Mrs. Helen Deans’ bathing suit,
and also that of Mr. Wade Baggs

• Steam-Driven Plane
Experiments have recently been car¬
ried out in Germany with a steam
driven airplane. The steam turbine
and boiler, with which the machine Is
fitted, are much lighter than other
types developing an equal horsepower,
and thus allow a greater speed to be
attained.
