Chicago—More than, a score.of
deaths and property damage esti¬
mated at upwards of three millions
are the result in three states of
a beat wave and storm which last
week swept through the Mississippi
and Ohio valleys.
Five deaths from a storm iu Ill¬
inois added to the head fatalities of
the other states. Eight persons
were reported prostrated by that
heat iu Chicago and fifteen are
said to have been bitten by heat
crazed dogs, with seventeen deaths
reported due to heat in Ohio.
Relief was afforded by the vio
lent windstorms.
